I don't. The guy is making millions. I can understand being upset that he might get traded to a team that's not a contender, and pouting on the court. But when you break the law I don't feel a thing for you.

According to 610 this morning, the *latest update* states that Rafer was leaving whatever establishment he had been visiting in downtown Houston, returned to the garage where his car had been parked, and discovered that the attendant had had his car towed. Rafer did not 'strike' the attendant, but became (understandably, I think) angry, and 'shook' the attendant, which is technically considered a Class C Misdemeanor. He was also allegedly 'publicly intoxicated' during the encounter.

I know he has had some brushes in the past, but this does not really seem like one of them. Looks like he had a few drinks and then some idiot attendant had his car towed, and he lost his temper. He didn't beat the guy up or anything.

Really seems like the sort of deal where people ought to cut the guy some slack, but there's probably no way that happens, not in this day and age.

Seriously? I like to think of myself as pretty level-headed, and I might have done the same thing. It's pretty understandable.

It looks like much ado about nothing but because it's Rafer Alston, it's a news item. What I don't understand is that if he'd paid for parking beforehand why did the attendant have his car towed? What's up with that?

The phrase they used on the radio was that it was allegedly 'improperly parked', which, if I had to guess, could mean that a rich NBA player might have decided that his ride was worth not getting dinged or scratched and may have parked taking up two spaces. I do not know this for sure, obviously, but it seems to be the most plausible explanation. And then the attendant went on his rounds, saw the car 'improperly parked', and called a wrecker to come haul it away.

Frankly, if that's how it went down, the attendant is probably lucky that a 'shaking' is all he got...

He probably has more than one ride, but when I saw him out at the Breakfast Klub a few months ago he was driving a very blinged out H2. I'd double-park it if I were him.

So you can only be intoxicated if you are indoors otherwise its a crime? You are only allowed to be privately intoxicated?

Yes, lets cut the guy some slack. It would have been much better had Rafer been allowed to drive home intoxicated.
