Ain't any worse? I bet Rafer's trade value is going to drop alot more than Barkley's did. If Rafer keeps this up, Morey may need to pull another minor miracle out of his butt to get Rafer traded.

Uncalled for its not like Rafer had a choice in having this syndrome.

shame what happened to him, he should have known better or at least the people he was with. he does have some celebrity status in houston. oh well it seems rafer is genuinely upset over the acquisitions of francis, james and brooks and its a red flag to him saying he is out and probably will be traded in the future. hopefully he can be professional enough to play through it if he isnt traded until the deadline and help his trade value so Morey can land him in a place where he can succeed (provided that the rockets get good value in return for him). outside of his dreadful shooting (both 3FG and in the lane) i liked what rafer brought to the team and off the court he seems like a very personable guy.

Yah know... When I first heard about this, all these people came out of the woodwork making a huge deal about this. To me it's just a bunch of BS. I mean some people are making this out to be like Julio Lugo... as if it's even remotely close to what he did. What a joke.

Heck I've been ticketed for a higher level of assault than Rafer was and all I did was push a guy cuz he was in my face. He threw the first punch, I finished the fight... None of that mattered because I touched the guy first. That's the law, I lived up to it... So should Rafer. But in no way do I think this is a big deal.

I mean... this isn't even news worthy IMO. And I'm not going to waste another second on this topic.

Official statement from Rafer from Rockets press release tonight:

The following statement was released today from Houston Rockets PG Rafer Alston:

"Although I regret what happened - and apologize to my fans, teammates and the organization for any distraction- the accounts of what happened are widely exaggerated by individuals that stand to profit. I am confident that when the full story is reported, I will be vindicated."

By the time this hits the courts, the assault charge will be gone and something will be done about the PI (community service, ect....)

^Rockets guard Alston arrested in Houston

HOUSTON (AP) — Rockets guard Rafer Alston said Monday he was innocent of misdemeanor assault and public intoxication charges filed against him a day earlier.
Alston was accused of grabbing a parking attendant's arm, shaking him and spitting on him after Alston's vehicle was towed from a lot early Sunday. The attendant said Alston parked illegally and did not pay.
Alston told Houston television station KRIV that he didn't do anything to the attendant.
``We got into a shouting match. My car was towed and I was basically asking the parking attendant where he had my car towed to,'' Alston said in a story on KRIV's Web site. ``There were no hits, nothing transpired. The guy runs off and yells down the street, like, he needed an officer over here. Before you know it, the officer puts me in cuffs and takes me downtown.''
``I asked the guy what was I being charged with and he said public intoxication and assaulting someone, and I said, 'I am neither of those,''' Alston said.
Both charges against Alston are misdemeanors, said Victor Senties, a Houston police spokesman.
``We are aware of the situation and are attempting to get more details about the incident,'' Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said in a statement. ``While we do not have all the facts yet, it is nevertheless very disappointing to have one of our players involved with any police activity. We will continue working with the authorities in order to get to the bottom of the situation.''
The 6-foot-2 player out of Fresno State joined the NBA during the 1999-2000 season with Milwaukee. Alston signed with the Rockets in 2004 and averaged 13.3 points last season.

Rafer trying to shift blame instead of taking responsibility? I haven't seen the story exaggerated too much. Guess having no accountability under JVG has spread to his personal life as well.

So, just because you don't like the guy means he is a liar and has no accountability now? Give me a break.

How about let's wait untill this thing plays out COMPLETELY before questioning his worth as a man.

I swear, the guy deserves better than to be treated and talked about like he is dog trash around here all the time.

I just don't like this line, "the accounts of what happened are widely exaggerated by individuals that stand to profit. I am confident that when the full story is reported, I will be vindicated."

It just comes off bad, cause everything I've read have so far stated this is no big deal and is relatively minor. Rafer seems to be trying to make it a bigger deal himself, by stating people are out to slander him for profit.

Just own up to what he did and move on. Instead he's trying to paint himself as the victim. Common deflection tactic to try to draw attention off him and onto those slanderous people trying to profit of him.

If he wasn't drunk, the cop wouldn't have arrested him. Cops have no vendetta against rafer.

I don't think he meant cops. More likely the parking attendant. Wouldn't be the first time someone get in a fight with a rich athelete hoping to sue them for some $.
