A number 6 and 14 can help the Suns with their rebuilding, but I think it's risky to take on an injured Al Jefferson. Amare can walkout on the Wolves anytime. Telfair and Foye aren't Nash or Barbosa,he will sour on them quickly.
I don't think the Suns would do this because their whole point of trading people is to save money. I don't think they'll be willing to take back an injured player with a huge contract.
If true, is this Kahn getting conned? If true, is this guy the second coming of Hockey-Guy? If true, what would this guy give for McG???
Amare is more stronger than AI J i think. but add the no.6 could be considered. I really like Mchale's Game . AI J did a good job last season.
Am I the only one here that thinks Amare the better than Jefferson? Jefferson is great and all but he just had his break out year and then had that ACL injury. Amare on the out hand, has been a force in the post for many years in the league compared to Al. This isn't good for us doh cause I was hoping that we could get our hands on Amare but now that the Timberwolves are rumored to trade Al Jefferson PLUS the 6th pick for Amare I don't see us being able to compete with that.
There has to be additional pieces in this trade or a third team to make it believable. If the Suns agree on this present trade then the rebuilding process has started and chances are that they might not make the playoffs next season.
It's kind of strange to see the overwhelming reaction of this board on Jefferson vs. Amare. Consider that Amare was a widely considered a top 10 if not top 5 player. He was all nba 2nd team in 2008, the Shaq trade seems to have messed his game up and you could say he regressed. Amare has also proven that he can be a force in the playoffs, he has held his own vs. Tim Duncan in the past. On the other hand, Jefferson has no success in the playoffs at all. The only time he made the playoffs was his rookie year with the Celts, that team had Pierce and Walker and GP leading the way. Since then, Jefferson has been a consistent loser in the NBA. I personally prefer Jefferson to Amare because of his polished low post game and the fact that he took less than the max on his 2nd contract. I also think Amare is too arrogant for his own good; he's the type that blames others for the failure of his team. With that said, it's certainly not slam dunk that Jefferson is the better player. Jefferson has not proven anything in the league, Amare has.
"An NBA executive told the Boston Globe today that the Minnesota Timberwolves is working a deal with the Phoenix Suns that would send former Celtics forward Al Jefferson and their sixth pick in next week's NBA Draft for All-Star Amare Stoudemire. The Suns, which have dangled Stoudemire for some time, fiound a suitor in Minnesota that is in transition. -- Boston Globe .....Ben's Take: Jefferson is a good player, but if this happens, he'll have been traded for two future Hall of Famers. Not to shabby for a guy who missed the end of last season injured. " That is from Ben Maller's rumors page on Fox sports. USUALLY i think he has pretty good takes, but while KG is a sure fire HOFer...Amare, though, really?? I mean no doubt the guy is great and I would LOVE to have him, but im not sure he has done so much to be declared a future HOFer already.
this is ridiculous, it only makes sense in that no one knows who al jefferson is. anyone who know this guy's potential wouldn't believe this for a moment
I think most people are reacting this way beacuse the number 6 pick is also included. Throw in the fact that you could make a case for Jefferson being better and the trade does not make any sense for the T-Wolves.
didn't know amare's contract is up next season, well he has a player option. still, i would keep al jefferson
The trade makes no sense to me since Amare can walk next season. Why would you trade a stud big and a lotto pick for a potential one year rental?
