McDyess is surely a very good player both defensively and offensively, he used to be the member of 20+/10+ club. It will be very helpful if he could join rox and pitch in Yao's back up. while he expressed that he won't play for any teams except Pistons, which means he will probably retire after the buy out...
If McDyess returns to the Pistons, the trade is essentially Billups for AI straight up. Not as bad as it seems to be. But I wonder if AI could share the ball with the talented Pistons squad. I hope it works so that they could pose a serious challenge to the Celtics.
Agreed that is if McDyess decides to go back. I don't think that is a given though since Amir Johnson has been starting, but who knows. I think this was a very underrated trade for Detroit.
That's a BS rule - if I was running for President (see tonight's Monday Night Football interview w/ Berman & McCain/Obama) that is probably the first thing I would change in sports - at least a year (maybe two) before the team that trades a player can re-sign him.
Uh that's not how it goes. They have to let go of both AI and Wallace before they can go after LeBron.
Love this move for the Nuggets. The biggest factor is getting J.R. Smith on the floor for 40 minutes and the spacing that Billups and Smith can give Melo. Smith is a dynamic high percenage scorer that was being held back by AI.
I'm just wondering what everyone's view is on the trade, does it make a nuggets a legit contender, are they the same or worse, all i know now is that they lost a dynamic scorer in Iverson but has gained stability in the pg position. This just makes the west more competitive, for Detroit hopefully it could bring Iverson a ring but that can happen after the Rockets
Nuggets were going nowhere with or without A.I. Losing their best (and only) defender didn't help much either. Ideally they want someone who could exploit, expose and take advantage of the nuggets talent. Suns most likely won't give away Nash, nor will Chris Paul be leaving Hornets anytime soon. I can't think of any gifted floor generals they could take, but I guess they landed Billups, who has both championship and veteran leadership and experience. Billups is not a better player than A.I, but A.I isn't leading them anywhere either. If all it takes for the nuggets to exploit their talent farm is someone with experience and leadership, Billups might be just the guy. I wouldn't say Billups is the ideal guy for the job, but Nuggets won't find better at this stage. Pistons however are probably going for one more push. A.I is a ballhog and that is the bottom line of it. Now comes the interesting part, why would the Pistons, a team with a starting lineup so strong in chemistry, decide to breakup one of the key piece and replace it with a ballhog. Pistons style of playing focuses on team play, and if A.I can't learn that, then Pistons are in for disappointment. Can't blame the Pistons for trying though. They weren't going anywhere before, nor were they after. They still got some juice in the gas tank with the current players, and they haven't exactly added much significant talent over the past few years. This year is probably Pistons big year. What they are in the future depends on this year.
