I'm guessing you have never seen him play.

He has more than just brute strength, he also has a nice touch around the basket. He is huge yet he runs the floor quite well for a guy who is almost 300 lbs.

This kid has the potential to be the best center in the game. His offensive game is already leaps and bounds ahead of that of Dwight Howard.

Yah, Pau is a shorter, but better Vlade Divac.
And who knows, maybe this trade will free up Minny to trade Peko for a good 2 guard, as well.

Fans are too picky with their centers. Most teams are sporting 7 ft stiffs.

When a guy drops 30 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks on the Rockets centers, he is still not good enough to be a Rockets center. SMH

I don't know if he can be the best center in the game but I agree he has a great touch around the basket. He's big, tough, skilled. I also don't know why on earth you would think he would have trouble against longer centers? He's a true 7-footer so he's not going to be outsized by anyone currently playing in the NBA.

His weakness is that he's only an average defensive center. He's not a great shotblocker. But that's really about it. He's become an elite center in every other facet of his game.

These spanish sources were the first ones to break a couple of signings and trades this past offseason so it is somewhat credible.

The trade scenario isn't Beasley and Barea = Gasol. It's Beasley, Barea, and Derrick Williams = Gasol. Derrick Williams is being sent to Orlando on the Lakers' behalf so they can obtain Dwight Howard.

    hopin that doesnt happen...

ive been sayin we need to be third wheel in Pau to Minnie...
    Minn gets Pau and Bud
    LA gets Scola, Dragic, Beasley
Hou gets Derrick Williams and Darko (prefer Pekovic - but might be unrealistic)
...I think adding Pau to Minnie is stupid for them (Pek/Darko and Love/Randolph/Dwill is solid), but if they want him - we should get in on it...

Looks like the lakers replacing us with minny as the new facilitator role taking gasol, and honestly minny has the better package if were not willing to give up lowry.

I think people think that bc generally speaking on clutch fans people undervalue gasol and bynum. Enough has been said about gasol (19pts 11 boards etc) but clearly bynum is the second best center in the league and he is averaging 16.3 and 12.8 rebounds with 2 blocks compared to 20 points 15.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks for howard. It can also be argued that bc of bynums injury history and lack of playing time as a result he has a higher upside than howard and is two years younger.

Here's my shot at replacing Minny in the facilitator role:

It's not as appealing for Orlando (Williams > Morris) but it's probably more appealing for LA since they get basically the same stuff out of it plus they aren't left with a glaring hole at PF.

The question is, would you add in the Knicks pick and/or Motiejunas to Orlando's side of the deal in order to get it done?

Keep in mind that taking Dwight off the market makes us the frontrunner for D-Will since we can offer Lowry.

Pekovic is obviously preferably, but Darko isnt a bad bu center - better than JHill...

Is Darko really better than Hill, he's been pretty terrible this year. 10.7 pts/8 rebounds per 36 mins with crap efficiency. Hill is averaging 11.8 points/11.7 rebounds per 36 minutes with decent efficiency.

All his #s are down - his pt is so inconsistant I doubt he can catch a groove... To pair him up with Sam, I think can him some consistancy....

Really, though, the trade is all about Scola, expiring Dragic and Bud for Derrick Williams - a gable for the potential upside...
