This trade makes ZERO sense for Minny, they give up Beasley, Barea AND Williams for Gasol, who plays the same position as Love? They would gut themselves with this idiotic trade, will never happen. Beasley plus Barea would be okay, but why would they give up Williams, too? They won't get a better SF via draft or trade and would have no depth with this. This makes no sense in any direction for their team. I call BS.

They may not be able to expect much more. Bynum has become one of the best centers in the league, even though he obviously can't hold a candle to Howard. Derrick Williams was last year's 2nd overall pick, and he has plenty of upside to gamble on. The only really bad thing about the trade is it may put them in the same situation at next year's trade deadline when Bynum is a pending free agent. But maybe they can convince him to agree with an extension before the trade goes though.

I hate how every rumor trade ends up ALWAYS benefiting the Lakers. They get a new SF (Which they need) a new PG (which they need) and Dwight Howard! And Dot believe it the source either. In fact, I don't believe most trade rumors until they are reported by a LEGITIMATE source (Wojnarowski, Stein, and maybe Feigen)

That doesn't make sense for Minny and I can't see Orlando pulling the trigger on that. But the Lakers reload and that's all that matters for media rumors.

It really works for all teams. The Lakers get Dwight. The orl gets a c plus a lottery pick who is young . Min with rubio gasol and love would be a contender.

He's been playing like a star-level center since he joined Minny's starting lineup. He's been a double-double machine the last 16 games, averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds during that time. Here are his games since becoming a starter (points/rebounds):

    14/10
    13/9
    8/7
    13/12
    27/11
    11/9
    23/10
    10/9
    12/7
    21/13
    16/13
    21/11
    30/12
    17/9
    7/7
    15/12

He has also been ridiculously efficient on the season with .624 TS% and 22.4 PER.

He's not a star though da last thing this team needs is a glorified role player and those numbers look like scola's so what makes him better than what we already have

Scola is averaging 15 and 6 with less blocks worse defense and a .517 TS%. His PER is 14.1. He's not even playing close to Pekovic's level.

    Williams isn't a SF.

No depth? Under this trade, the Minnesota Timberwolves have the best frontcourt in the league, and it isn't even close. Combine that with a legit PG in Rubio, and you've got a team that can legitimately contend. Find a Courtney Lee type somewhere out there and you're completely set.

Seriously people. Just because Beasley's gone off against us, don't actually think that he's any good. There's no way that the Lakers would actually give up Gasol for him.

I like the trade for the T-Wolves. They rent Gasol for 2 years. Pekovic becomes the best big man off the bench. T-Wolves can fill in the SF/SG with a MLE level free agent or another trade. Rubio can feel even more comfortable with another Spanish player in the lineup. T-wolves become Spain's team.

No way in hell Dwight is dealt without Hedo getting the H out of town, too.

    I think you are right.

Dwight/Hedo/Jameer/Anderson for Bynum/Gasol/first round pick makes more sense for both teams.

The problematic part of the deal for me is Beasley: the lakers can't get beasley AND barea. If you remove beasley from the deal then it is fair for all 3.

But to give the lakers DWIGHT and BEASLEY AND Barea, well that is way too much. d12 > bynum, and beasley and barea = gasol.

plus beasley, dwill and barea >>>>> gasol.

this deal is BS and wont happen.

The deal is based on the premise that the lakers want maximum value for gasol and bynum so they cook up a deal to fleece value by adding in a 3rd team to the deal.

the real deal should be: d12 for gasol and bynum, and maybe the magic would add in j.nelson to the deal.

That is very true. Pekovic is very strong. He's getting his numbers off Rubio and his brute strength. The strength aspect of his game is negated by skilled long bigs. He's not an upper tier big.

Rick Adelman loves having a big man at the high post that can pass, shoot, or drive. Gasol is perfect for Adelman offense. A better Vlade. A extremely better upgrade over the r****ded Brad Miller.

I agree Lakers would get way too much. With Dwight Kobe Beasley they have their scoring which makes them much better because now a guy like World Peace can come in and just shut down Durant, Paul or whoever he's guarding.

Hope that rumor is fake. But it does make sense for Orlando too. I like Williams, he will be a star one day.
