A lot of them have been doing this for decades. Nothing new to be calling it brilliant. It is just the system we live in.

That's because we didn't take any serious preemptive actions early and the lockdown was initiated too late. The virus had months to spread already.

Many other countries, mostly in Asia, took action early and so their deaths are only in the hundreds or low thousands. And they were able to avoid a nationwide lockdown. Plus they don't have to try to deflect blame to China to divert attention from their own incompetence like Trump is trying to do.

Everyone already knows the communist party in China lies about everything and anything that can make them look bad. They pretty much act just like Trump when it comes to releasing information. But many leaders of other countries weren't morons. They saw China locking down cities and cancelling Chinese New Year celebrations and quickly realized this was a very serious and contagious disease.

Glad you got his pee-pee out of your hand long enough to type that. He does what's good for himself. Not anybody else. I don't care for it.

No kidding. Dream is wealthy, but even if he sold all of his real estate empire, and cashed out everything he had, he couldn’t buy 5% of the team, in my opinion. Maybe if an Uber Rich fan gave him a sweetheart loan.

You answer your own question. If the owners are indeed exploiting sports psychology, then yes the solution is to break the addiction. Continuing to buy tickets is just supporting the owner. If you don't like what the owner is doing, the solution is to stop going. Yes, I know that is hard... but, on the other hand, can you imagine how freaked out an owner would be to see an empty stadium, even if only for the first five minutes of a game?

It's the only way fans have to voice their opinion. No, voicing it here doesn't count...unless someone can point to something said here that caused Tilman to behave differently.

ALL of those teams would start behaving differently if fans stopped coming. Do you really disagree with that? Why not take pride in forcing your team to get better instead? Sports fans have created the very environment they hate...they allow teams to continue no matter how mediocre, or worse, their product.

How lucky for us then that car accident deaths do not grow on an exponential curve.

Look, I'm opposed to the endless social distancing without a cohesive strategy or exit plan in place. But there are so many disingenuous talking points being tossed around.

I always hold my breath when driving by a car accident because those things are contagious. I take the same precautions whenever I see someone changing a flat.

It's not about your safety. It's about the safety of everyone you'll come in contact with and everyone they'll come in contact with. You do not have to be symptomatic to carry the virus and infect others. How do people still not get this?

Going to a game before there's a vaccine isn't brave or irreverent; it's a selfish decision to put your entertainment ahead of everyone else's health and safety.

That's a fantasy world. It won't happen. Even if you and I quit watching the Rockets, there would still be enough fans to support the team.

Besides, you do know that the NBA is revenue sharing, right? That's why even the worst team still makes money.

Again, sports league business is NOT a usual business. Bad owners don't get punished just because their fans are unhappy. The only way to get rid of them is when all the other owners decide to kick them out

... Or when they are literally broke. ;)

You're cherry picking your time frame.

There is merit to both sides. Just because there isn't an exponential curve on traffic accidents doesnt mean we shouldn't disregard it. If we did, the numbers could easily be twice the number.

Just like with COVID19, it doesnt mean we shouldn't try to prevent deaths. But like anything else that has been tracked for decades, there becomes an acceptable loss.

It doesn't have to be...but yes it seems to be. Yet fans still b**** about the owner destroying the team....while they continue to support him (buying tickets IS supporting him). It's all controllable...if only fans ever wanted it to change. You want to give the owner a big fat middle finger? Don't show up for 5 minutes...and get everyone else to not sure up either. Would only need to happen one time, I bet, and they'd get it. Because they know if the fans have the will to do that...they have the will, if pushed, to just not come at all.

And it DID happen, btw. Fans were so disgusted with the baseball strike that many of them didn't return. Baseball went from America's game to behind NASCAR and the NHL. So, you can't so it won't happen, when it already has.

It's also why they put in salary floors, forcing owners to spend at least a certain amount of money

how quickly would the other owners kick them out when they see droves of empty seats?

Plus, which sports franchise runs its business more like a usual business than any other?

    The Patriots.

They run it like a cold, hard business...they just run it better than anybody else. Which is how it works in business. Anyone who ISN'T running it like a business is falling behind. Which is also what happens in usual business. If you don't run your business better than everyone else...they beat you.

Most have enough money where whether their sports toy makes or loses money won't break them. That's true. But don't think it doesn't matter.

There are tons of International fans that can't just pick a flight to Houston and pay for the overpriced tickets plus hotel cost to watch the Rockets under normal circumstance.

It becomes harder when your center of life isn't there.

    However, they still support them.
