Bandwagon hopper. I've been following them since the Robert Reid, Rodney McCray, Ralph Sampson days.

    Best wishes Rudy.

I love Rudy since the 1994 final when I knew him.
Wish he is free from any misfortune and lead the rockets to one more championships.

When I first heard Rudy T's surname on TV in 1994, I thought he was Yugoslavian origin. I certainly know that he is an American. Can somebody tell me something about Rudy's surname? It seems rather strange compared to other American surnames.

The question is held for 10 ten years.

Rudy T to get test results today

Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich underwent a 30-minute procedure on Monday to evaluate abnormalities found on his bladder and remained overnight at Methodist Hospital while awaiting test results expected this morning.

Tomjanovich underwent a cystoscopic evaluation and biopsy of the bladder lining at noon. He was held overnight as a precautionary measure but is expected to rejoin the Rockets during their five-game road trip as soon as Wednesday in Portland.

"He's doing well," Rockets physician Jim Muntz said. "He's already up in his room (about an hour after the procedure). We'll have everything back in the morning."

Muntz would not speculate about a diagnosis. Dr. Richard Goldfarb, a unologist at Methodist Hospital, performed the procedure.

Typically, a superficial tumor in the lining of a bladder can be treated medically with a topical agent, rather than with surgery. Muntz, however, said it was too early to speculate about the results of the biopsy.

Tomjanovich, 54, underwent testing last month after developing a bladder infection. He learned Friday that abnormal cells had been found.

Tomjanovich told his players about his situation in an emotional meeting after Sunday's win against the Suns. For the first time, he will miss a regular-season game as Rockets coach when the team visits the SuperSonics tonight.

Tomjanovich is in his 12th season as Rockets head coach and his 32nd with the organization. He was named interim coach Feb. 18, 1992, and officially became the Rockets' ninth head coach May 20 of that year.

With a 461-358 career record, Tomjanovich is one game shy of matching Don Nelson's tenure with the Bucks for the sixth-most NBA games with one team. Though assistant coach Larry Smith will run the team tonight in Seattle, the game will count on Tomjanovich's record.

"He's doing well," Jesse Brown, a close friend and business partner of Tomjanovich, said Monday. "He's sharp. He's in a little discomfort, but he's doing all right.

"He's upbeat, very upbeat. You talk to him, you think he's fine. He can't wait to hear the results tomorrow so he can figure out the way to tackle this."

    Rudy T. Medical Update

Mar. 18, 2003 (HOUSTON) - Houston Rockets Head Coach Rudy Tomjanovich received the results from yesterday’s cystoscopic evaluation and biopsy of the bladder lining this morning. The procedure, performed by Dr. Richard Goldfarb, revealed a superficial bladder tumor.

“Rudy’s treatment options are optimistic,” Rockets team physician Dr. James Muntz said. “His condition does not require surgery. Instead, he will receive medical treatments once a week, beginning in two weeks.”

Tomjanovich has been released from Methodist Hospital and is currently resting in Houston. He plans to rejoin the Rockets during the team’s five-game road trip.

    Rudy diagnosed with bladder tumor

Team says tumor can be treated without sugery

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Associated Press

HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich has a superficial bladder tumor that will be treated without sugery, the team said Tuesday.

The Rockets did not say whether the tumor was cancerous, though in a statement team physician Dr. James Muntz said he will begin "medical treatments once a week, beginning in two weeks."

Muntz did not specify the nature of the treatments.

Tomjanovich, 54, checked into Methodist Hospital on Monday to undergo tests as his team headed to Seattle for Tuesday night's game against the Sonics, which he will miss. Tomjanovich hoped to rejoin the team during its current five-game West Coast road swing.

"Rudy's treatment options are optimistic," Muntz said following a biopsy of the bladder lining Monday by Dr. Richard Goldfarb.

Tomjanovich was released from the hospital and was resting at home, the team said.

After recovering from a bladder infection about a month ago, Tomjanovich said he went in for routine follow-up tests, the second of which turned up abnormal cells. He broke the news to his team after an 85-75 victory over Phoenix on Sunday that clinched a playoff tiebreaker with the Suns, who are vying with the Rockets for the final Western Conference playoff spot.

Tomjanovich, who spent his entire 11-year playing career in Houston, never had missed a game in his 11-plus seasons as coach. Assistant Larry Smith will coach the team in Tomjanovich's absence.

Weekly treatments sounds like cancer, but they are not doing surgery, so you can't be sure.

In any case, it sounds liek Rudy will make a recovery. Hope the rest does him well.

Ive read about people who cure themselves of cancer by eating a 100% raw food diet. Maybe Rudy could benefit from somthing like that. just a thought.

definitely no more sodas on the bench for Rudy though.
