Rudy replaced Don Chaney almost immediately after the Rockets blew a huge 4th quarter lead against the T'Wolves.

Come on, man! He won 2 championships, that means he gets a lifetime pass and he can do NO WRONG....EVER.

Everyone knows the ISO offense is the only way to go. All the playoff teams run it. Well, actually NONE of them run it but that's beside the point. The only play we ever need is to spread the floor and let the guards practice their "And 1" moves. When we miss the playoffs again next year, just take solace in the fact that we are still "young" and full of potential....you know, like we've heard for the last 4 years.

hopefully Rudy will be back, however, i like silas, JVG...i think the best coach out there is Mike Dunleavey. A former Rocket who has a proven track record.

Is there any way we can get Brent Barry? I wouldn't mind having him as a veteran sg backup or if Mobley is gone our starting sg.

brent would be a great add to the rocs, but i doubt seattle is going to move him coz they really like his versatility and athletism he brings to the sonics.

Well because he is Doc Rocket.

It's too bad that we won't go after a coach this year because we will be missing out on some good ones in Van Gundy and Brown. I would imagine that there will be a short leash on Rudy next season if they get off to a slow start. He could be gone by the all-star break if the rockets stumble out of the gate but the downside would be that the coaching talent available at this point will likely be scarce.

I find the Rockets approach to assembling a team absolutely horrible to watch.

"Veterans are getting to old? Let's discard them and bring in some young talent. That's the ticket.

Young talent too young? Well, how about some veterans to make this team really click."

Sure. How about identifying needs instead of creating needs out of the excuses you come up with for why you didn't make the playoffs.

Does it really matter if the shooter we need is a veteran or a 3-6 year guy or, heck, even a rookie? For that matter, do we even really need a shooter? I strongly believe Cuttino Mobley could be one of the best spot-up 3 point shooters in the league. Sadly, the system that has been fed to him, and he has thus run with, doesn't have this team making the necessary passes to take advantage of something like that anyway.

What about the PG? Even a pass first PG won't be that helpful unless said PG dictates the game instead of letting the coach do so. Jason Kidd does this - regardless of what type of "system" is in place, he would change it to suit him and suit a mroe fluid offensive passing game. But would GP be a good PG in our system? An improvement, yes, but you can be guaranteed that GP would mesh with the Rockets me first attitude just as much as the Rockets would change to GP style of play.

Whatever, it's just a rant, but I don't see how the Rockets will be successful if they continue to try and fill holes for their excuses instead of what's really wrong with the team - i.e. leadership, discipline, fundamental skills, coaching. Sorry, as a season-ticket holder, I'd be MUCH MUCH more excited next year, in the new arena, with the new uni's and a refreshed Yao, to see a different style of play than to see different players. What would you be more excited about - adding Piatowski to the team, or actually learning to run a fast break and manage the clock.

perhaps the PG and SG from the east are comming from the same team.

that makes a lot more sence than believing that we will make separate trades for our vet PG (east), SG (east), PF (west), and clippers players.

there is no way we will make 5 trades this off season. or even 4 trades, since we can sign one good player to our MCE.

why not trade cat to toronto? a team that was after him when he was a FA.

in return we recieve williams and lenard.

neither one of those are at the top of my wish list, but we have to be realistic. you have to admit, they fit the bill. a big, defencive minded, pass first PG that can hit an open shot. and a vet shooter.

ok... ive been thinking this all along.. but what is this big fuss about freaking jeff van gundy!! i mean.. the only reason theres all this talk aobut him is cuz hes out of work as a coach... its not like he did a remarkable job with the knicks either... and its not fair to blame rudy for this season.. i mean he couldnt even coach the rockets in the final stretch... who knows.. maybe rudy could have motivated the team to do better than sub-500 which is all that mr. mean could muster up.. please lets give rudy t the chance he deserves and remember that last year was yaos first year and the team was in transition... we WILL be in the playoffs next season

That's it. Count me in as a Rudy basher. He thought what I did was DISTASTEFUL!! How can it be distasteful for hating the Lakers? Rudy, you are not a true Rocket. You have no heart. It's distasteful to sympathize with Fisher and the Lakers!

I still can't believe the number of posters who claim Rudy has not been given an adequate chance

Rudy had EVERYBODY back from a crap year (2001/02) and then added THE #1 PICK IN THE FREAKIN Draft !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Rudy couldn't muster a better record before his sick leave, especially given his complete lack of willingness to control S.F. and Cat, and finally, the team's abysmal inconsistency in ALL aspects of the game (including Rudy's alleged strength of defense...) leads me to the same conclusion I began lobbying for last February:

    Rudy MUST GO!!

I know the guy is being treated for cancer, and I know he won us two championships, but there's NO WAY that Rudy can/will do more for this team than JVG/Silas, or especially Larry Brown (my personal choice) are capable of.

Regardless of who might come in, the one thing we could look forward to is some REAL ASSISTANT HEAD COACHES, with legitimate coaching pedigrees, rather than the clueles cheerleaders we have on the bench now. Our assistant's were truly exposed as worthless during the stretch run that spelled our total and complete collapse.

(Also, our alleged team leader S.F. proved himself to be unworthy of that mantle) BTW: S.F. is NOT a great PG, and will NEVER be considered as such!!

Might as well get used to it. Regardless of how low this team has sunk, there will always be Rudy apologists who insist none of it's his fault. I'm starting to wonder whether even a 5th straight lottery season(which I frankly believe is a lot more likely than a playoff appearance next year) would be enough to prompt Les and the majority of fans to demand a regime change. At this point, I really don't know.

I could understand if they would be honest and admit its just that they've grown emotionally attached to the guy over the years and the would rather him be the coach because they love the guy and all that. But they blame the players and ignore important facts like, our team near bottom in team assists, tops in turnovers, near the bottom in field goal attempts game. Rudy can say on his radio show his offensive gameplan is not going to create a lot of team assists and guys still blame the players for not passing and moving.

Did I ever say Steve was free of blame? I only emphasized Rudy's shortcomings as a coach since this thread was about him. Believe me, I hold both the players and coaches accountable for the disappointing run over the last 6 seasons.
