By the way RRU, the way you posed the question was really classy. But I would have been more direct saying "I'm not hanging up until you tell us what you are going to do to address these problems. What committment will we have from you that we will make the playoffs either this year or next. If you don't then you should feel obligated to resign."

You guys give too much respect to somebody who is accountable to the fans, you're the ones who are paying his damn bills! Why let him off easy.

I said dominating player down low not some fantasy godlike player! "30/15/5/3blks"  Hell I could coach the team if Ming was putting up those kind of numbers. I think you need to find another way to express your meeningless point? :p

Shaq and Jordan were dominate before Phil but did he have any rings. Hakeem was dominate before Rudy, did he have any rings. KG is dominate, can he get out of the first round.

Even if Yao scores 30 a night, Rudy still needs to figure way to score the other 60-70 points and stop the other team from scoring.

Yeah, I'm sure that would've really held them hostage too. "Ohmygod, this caller won't hang up until Rudy T answers this question...AHHHHHH, Rudy T just answer the damn question....AHHHHH....click"

heyp pisses me off as much as the rest of you, but I'm on his side here.

RRU.....the question to Rudy was good, but I have to agree with HeyP. That petition you made was pointless.:)

I dunno, man, I don't think it takes much guts or whatever to ask a guy that kind of question. Actually, I think it lacks a little bit of class.

I'm sorry, but I don't go around asking people in my office, "Hey, if we don't make that deadline, or if the company doesn't meet this quota, will you quit?" I know people in my office are doing some hard work. I'm not gonna question them on it.

Nice thread title, by the way. What's next -- "Cuttino doesn't want to be traded!" "Posey wants a contract offer!" "Griffin doesn't want to be benched!" Keep 'em coming.

I think any negative question you ask someone that you already know the answer is a stupid question and can serve no other purpose than to piss someone off.

It's like asking an executive at your company if he is going to quit if the company doesn't make the numbers. No, he won't quit but he may lay your sorry arse off before it is over and done with.

    RRU,

What? Did your petition get laughed at by whoever you sent it to? You seem a wee bit defensive, champ.

You are Mr Petition turned Amatuer Fran, who clearly does not respect Rudy as a coach. If you want to put Rudy on the hotseat on the radio, tell him you have a petition of 15 friends and a few 14 year olds who want him to step down. Come on, dude. Go for the juggler.

I'm going to assume dj_willy doesn't understand the concept of how a call-in show works

Wrong analogy. We are not employees of the Rockets...we are customers...very big difference. Customers and shareholders are allowed expectations of a the products they purchase.

Actually, the coalition has slowly increased over the past month, due to shameless plugging of the thread. You can probably add about 5 lifelong die-hard Rocket fans from China to your tally.

    GATER,

How about it's like a stockholder with one share of Apple calling into the stockholder's annual teleconference with Steve Jobs and asking him if he'd step down if his share doesn't increase in value NOW!

"Yeah, I'll bet my job on getting us to the promised land right NOW. I'll even step down if we don't."

Those are the words of a loser, who has already been told by the Board that he's got one more year. A winner, secure in the direction of the team/company will say "Hell NO! Making changes based on shortterm outcomes is for day-trader, bandwagonners. If you don't have faith that I'm the guy to lead this company, then you need to go out and start a stockholder petition with your one share."

    Rockets-R-Us,

I completely disagree with your position. 5 months is just too short a time period, especially consider what Rudy had accoplished for Houston.

But after saying that, I will have to give you a BIG pad on your back. I think what you are trying to do is absolutely necessary. It lights a fire in their behind to tell these millionaires that fans are watching and we want result.

Those guys took a while to mature. We all know about how it took a while for Dream and Jordan to actually trust in their teammates. Shaq was just raw. He was a powerhouse and very dominant but Dream exposed his immaturity. Shaq has often said that his ass-whooping by Dream is what made him grow up a little and work harder.

I signed up for the petition. I am not naive - I know Rudy WILL NOT BE FIRED mid-season but I signed up in order to facilitate a shake-up in anyway way, shape or form in the Houston Rockets team. Petitions like that can only help IMHO - and I still support it.

Rudy is a good man but he has just been as annoying and unbearable MOST of the time. He is still what he is - A great man manager, a shady "coach".

I think RRU asked his question in the best way possible. For example, I respect George Bush (a lot) but I want him out of the White House immediately. That is not hypocrisy - that is REALITY.
