With decent workouts, Prince at 22, or maybe 18 would not be a stretch. He's not the quickest, but he's sufficient for an SF. His arms cover a LOT of ground, and make up for it. He's not too raw, is an average 3 point shooter right now, and I'd say his NBA role is similar to the current Donyell Marshall (NOT the one out of college)-create a mismatch, and exploit it, with the ability to shoot outside or use height to shoot over smaller SFs in closer range. He comes from a solid Kentucky program, and left after his junior year. Murphy is a lefty, I know for a fact. I'm fairly sure Bradley isn't. Both can contribute immediately They are VERY similar rebounding skills, averaging close amounts in college. I haven't seen as much of Bradley as Murphy. Murphy has an EXCELLENT mid-range shot, and overall range, team player, knows his capabilities, he'll be able to contribute immediately. One of the things about Murphy is he's very efficient-doesn't waste time or expend energy trying to "look good". Bradley has that gawdy FG% (69.2%) for a 6'10'' 235 lb. guy. His FT shooting lacks at just 59%, and as that would suggest isn't a shooter as Murphy. He is a decent shooter, though and that FT% is what I call "Nick Anderson syndrome". I'm guessing he had traumatic FT experiences at some point and feels uncomfortable at the line. He doesn't have the face up moves of Murphy, and more of his points are off college-esque plays like simply sealing off a defender for a point-blank shot, and finish well that probably wouldn't work as effectively in the NBA. I feel Murphy is far superior as far as coming off the dribble, and also making baseline moves. Murphy probably doesn't spend enough time on offense down low as he should, but is an excellent perimeter passer, and will bang down low. Murphy has a superior "NBA body" with a little more weight. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
I was targeting Chicago in the trade scenario. Considering they are in need of veterans and have a hole at the SF spot. Walt Williams on a 1 yr contract along with a mid first round pick would not be a bad addition to their club. Possibly, Carlos Rogers could even get involved somehow. As far as teams with trade exceptions. Accorindg to RealGM, the Pistons and Lakers are the only teams with exceptions that exceed 3 mil. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Fox was 24th. ------------------ Heypee's Bet Your Moniker Game, (bet me here gurus): If a 3rd PG isn't on the roster, I lose my moniker, or If a new SF unseats Langhi, I lose. But, if a 3rd PG makes it, and Langhi is not unseated, you lose.
From everyone's descriptions of the "Rudy T type", and from what I've read on other sites, it sounds like the ideal players are Joe Johnson and Rodney White. Both are rangy, athletic, versatile shooters. I'm still holding out hope that the Rocks win BIG Sun. and get a chance to draft Kwame Brown, but I think these are the 2 that the Rocks will, and should, look for. ------------------
Such a great thread, can't stand to see it die. In response to someone's comment, Joe Johnson and Rodney White are not typical Rudy picks if nothing else because they are underclassmen. But along the lines of Rudy-type picks, how do you guys think Gasol compares with the mold? I'm really sold on him after boville's posts in the gasol expectations thread. He's tall, versatile, better mismatch opportunity than Langhi, can shoot the 3, and could even see time at center with his height and shot-blocking abilities. Of course, he's not a 4-year senior. However, I agree with the assessments (including MManal's) that Boston, if not someone higher, will snatch him up before we have a shot at the #13. ------------------ "All you need is love."
I think Pau Gasol would fit into the mold of players that Rudy T likes. He wants a big man that can shoot, and a 7 foot small forward that moves well and is reasonably athletic can cause major matchup problems. Gasol is the type of player that should see his stock rise as the draft nears, it will just be a matter of who is gutsy enough to pull the trigger. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
That's what I'm worried about. The Rockets have been known to pull big deals for established players, but they don't seem to take risks in the draft, which you can interpret as good or bad, but sometimes it comes back to haunt you...... ------------------
Rudy T likes tall white guys that can shoot, a la Jason Collier, Dan Langhi, and Matt Bullard. This leads me to believe that Troy Murphy could be in the mix.
