Do you honestly believe that this line of thinking is acceptable? Sacrificing our judicial system to punish political opponents, then celebrating because you don't like Giuliani? Do you have the ability to see where this could go? It's awful for the country.

The liberal left has truly lost their way if they think that hijacking the judicial system to pursue political opponents on bogus charges is acceptable. In a way, it's easy to see how 90%+ Democratic areas (San Fran, DC, inner city areas) became lawless, uninhabitable places. Without proper rule of law, society collapses. Liberals are all too willing to make this trade for their short-term "get Trump" mindset. I feel sorry for them actually. It's this lack of perspective and integrity that causes so many of them are bound to mediocrity (or less) for the entirety of their lives.

I suspect that Freeman and Moss were as happy to have their names cleared and have rudy punished for what he said and did. Sure, getting millions for damages would also be appealing, but they must know their chance of getting even a fraction is pretty slim.

Hopefully this sends a clear message to those that might do similar in the future. No one is above the law.

He's almost 80, and the Dominion and Smartmatic defamation lawsuits are still ongoing. He is still defiant and probably thinks his best bet is a Trump win in 2024. What he doesn't know is that if Trump does win, he wouldn't lift a finger to help Rudy.

it's the right of every American to say whatever the hell they want about any government official

the idea that all of your wealth could be confiscated for doing so is reprehensible and dangerous

the left has found a new weapon in civil defamation lawsuits with partisan juries to steal all of the wealth of their political opponents

this will not end well, but they never learn, all they think of is raw power

it starts with Alex Jones, then Rudy, then Trump. It won't end there.

It's actually not and never has been.

Neither libel nor slander is a new concept.

Besides which, he was found at-fault under a default judgment because he did not provide court-ordered discovery materials. And he did not put up a defense in the damages portion. That generally doesn't end well for anyone. Unless you're also saying you don't believe we should have a court system or juries.

    ur wrong.

16 years ago, in 2007, a conservative-leaning billionaire and Hulk Hogan sued a liberal media company for defamation, successfully, resulting in the financial ruin of the left-leaning Gawker Media

Bingo -- the left is perverting the justice system to advance their political goals, interfere with elections, and punish those who dare disagree with them. This is a very dangerous game they are playing and destabilizing for the country. What Republican will want to start a business or move operations to a jurisdiction like NYC or DC where the left can use the judicial system to destroy an innocent person's business? Liberal judge and liberal jury pools enable them to attack any opponent -- which is their way of achieving control. If we want the best and brightest serving in government, then the government needs to be moved out of DC. The Democrats' abuse of the legal system makes DC no longer a safe place for Republicans to do live or do business.

prediction: the left will hit Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan, and Elon Musk with civil defamation lawsuits next.

Anyone with wealth who has a voice and influence will be a target.

Don't defame someone. It's not difficult.

I have not been sued for libel.

PHOENIX (AP) — A top Republican election official in Arizona filed a defamation lawsuit Thursday against Kari Lake, who falsely claims she lost the 2022 race for governor because of fraud.

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer said he’s faced “violent vitriol and other dire consequences” because of lies spread by Lake, including death threats and the loss of friendships.

    ...

A Clark County district court judge has denied an anti-SLAPP motion filed by the executive director of the Nevada Republican Party over a defamation case filed by three Republican supporters of Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford, a procedural step that will allow the case to continue.

Judge Jessica Peterson’s order, issued Thursday, states that Nevada Republican Party Executive Director Alida Benson failed to clear the burden of proof for the anti-SLAPP motion, a law that allows defendants in defamation cases to avoid extensive litigation in cases where a lawsuit might otherwise silence their speech.

    ...

The Arizona Supreme Court on Friday unanimously affirmed First Amendment protections for political commentators, ruling that lower courts should have swiftly rejected a defamation lawsuit that a failed Republican U.S. Senate candidate brought against a talk-radio host.

In February 2021, Daniel McCarthy, who lost in the GOP special primary election for the U.S. Senate in 2020, filed a $120 million lawsuit against conservative Phoenix talk radio host James T. Harris and iHeartRadio, the corporate owner of KFYI, where Harris hosts a daily morning show called “The Conservative Circus.”

The lawsuit stemmed from a November 2020 Stop the Steal rally at the state Capitol at which both Harris and McCarthy spoke. In the days that followed, Harris used his radio program to criticize McCarthy and his supporters calling the failed candidate “a sad example of a conservative” and an “asshat,” and his supporters “unhinged” people who were “acting like Antifa.”

McCarthy claimed in his lawsuit that Harris’ ridicule damaged his “integrity, virtue, and reputation” by characterizing the former candidate as someone who is “unhinged,” “crazy,” and who associates with “thugs” and “shady” people.

    ...

    etc...etc...etc...blah...blah...blah

It’s interesting how the current rightwing is simultaneously criticizing vitriolic, hateful and threatening speech on college campuses and demanding that college professors get fired while saying it is a right when it comes to Giuliani, Alex Jones, and Trump.

I find this absolutely hilarious. Do you know how many times Donald Trump has sued someone for defamation? I looked up at least 12 cases of personally going after a person similar to this case.

Also do you know how many times Hillary Clinton has been sued in civil court??

    900!

Tell me again how Civil Court cases are some new tool that the Libs are using to take away the rights of good ole boy MAGA followers??

    A) This was a civil trial. It's not the DOJ or even the state of GA going after a "political opponent." These are private citizens who have been constantly defamed and have had their lives completely turned upside down by idiot MAGAs who believed the bulls***.
    B) Rudy continues defaming these women but hasn't offered even a shred of truth to back up the crap he's been slinging about them.

Just for s**ts and giggles...what would you advise these women to do? Consider the actual facts. Rudy hasn't officered anything to prove what he says is even remotely true AND these women have had their lives and livelihood threatened and completely upended.
