in the west, every game matters. if you bury yourself too soon you have no shot. The facts are that the grizzlies average margin of victory has never come close to 9+.

The knicks ARE a very good team when Melo is playing pf. I said this last year, so I am not surprised by what they are going to a weak schedule. The lakers are trying to integrate a whole new starting lineup.

The grizzlies now HAVE a bench, and we are heathly, something we haven't had for the last 2 years. The fact is that the grizzlies are consistently overlooked because critics say yeah but where's their superstar. They could be whole beaters and they'd say the same thing.

Agree with this post. The Grizz are legit, they don't have any superstars but they have a great coaching staff and a lot of really good (albeit overpaid) players. They're gonna win a lot of games this year.

The only reason people like you think that is because Bosh subjected himself to being the "Harden" of the Heat, he limited his game and just focused on D and rebounding so Wade and Lebron could develop some chemistry. Look at how Miami played when Bosh went out due to injury.

If Bosh didn't go to Miami you'd see a lot of arguments between Bosh and DH fans as the best big man in the league. He was averaging 20 and 10 as the main man in Toronto before he left.

Almost 24 and 11 actually. I think you're right that Bosh is incredibly underrated, especially on ClutchFans. Still wish we had him on the Rockets, he would be sooo good with Harden. Not going to happen, of course.

That's all fine and dandy. But homecourt doesn't really to great teams if you have noticed the past few years (Dallas/OKC/heat). It's how teams enter the playoffs and how healthy they are.

What happens NOW really won't mean much in April.

And no, the Grizz won't do much UNLESS Gay plays 90% like he did tonight, which is at a superstar level. You know Zbo/Marc will do their thing. This team is all about Rudy Gay. So no, you will need a player to play like a superstar if you want to win the West and go to the finals. You'll need a guy who can stop the opposing team's runs and keep things under control.

Grizzlies will make playoffs, might even win a round or 2, but they are not a finals team.

People who say Rudy Gay plays at a "mediocre" level are laughable. He's not worth the max, but he's a top 30 player in the league. People act like he's some scrub, when he's the best, or close 2nd best player on a very good Memphis Grizzlies team that is very deep.

I believe the discrepancy of viewpoints on Rudy is because while he has the capability of being one of the best players in the league, his innerdrive is not very consistent. Quarter to quarter and game to game.

(Really missed Harden last night. If he had gone in with the Thunder up 30-20 the game would have turned into a rout. /sadface)

Actually I think it's the classic "moneyball" head vs. eyes conflict. Some guys see his athleticism and think it makes him very good to great, others look at his performance and see him being slilghtly above average, and well below average for his salary.

It's sort of a tactics vs. strategy thing. Rudy Gay is very good tactically at taking 20 foot jumpers, which just happens to strategically be a horrible basketball move if you want to maximize points per shot.

Grizzlies are the new Hawks. Maxed out salary, never competing for a title.

The types of shots Rudy made last night in KD's face were superstar shots. So he has the ability. But Jamal Crawford can make those types of shots.

What separates superstars from wanna-be superstars is the ability to do that consistently, and on the road.

Like I said, if Rudy Gay can play like he did last night, Memphis has a great chance of winning the West. But he came into the game shooting 39% and has never shown any consistency playing like that that throughout his career.

    really?
Being in the West negates that notion. Can't be the Hawks.

Grizz are legit. Randolph, Gasol, Gay, and (to a lesser extent) Conley have all proven they can compete with the best in their respective positions and they actually play well together as a team.

There are a lot of jokes being thrown around, but it really wouldn't be surprising if they were in the finals this year.
