its cute how some of you is defending gay. he did a piss poor job trying to miss a ft at a crucial moment. you cant fault a guy for trying to make a shot but this was clearly a bone headed play on his part. you could easily tell when a player try to miss...they lean foward shoot hard or aim at the front iron. gay bent his knees and followed his shot like text book. sometimes 6 games lead to 7 and thats all the motivation it takes. that was a piss poor play by gay and theres no denying that
cant find the FT vid, but waiting to get fouled like he did looks odd....does seem like he just waited for it when he could have ran out the clock...that's the real bonehead play. He almost screwed up the pass to Hill's back, you probably shouldnt try that if the player's back is facing you at a side angle.
how hard is it to miss a ft? Get lessons from Shaq, Rondo, or Dwight Howard. Or you can shoot a ft the way Boozer shoots a jumper.
Look at the arch on that second freethrow (or lack of it) and how hard it hit the back of the rim. He clearly tried to miss. I don't think even Steve Nash could purposely bounce in a free throw like that.
He made it on purpose regardless of his reaction, what a chump. He could have just tossed it right off the front of the rim, I can do that 10 out of 10 times...no problem...... DD
Not many players are used to doing it. There's a chance at them airballing it under the rim. Though it does NOT appear Rudy Gay was trying that. Calvin Murphy would be jealous of his free throw stroke on that one.
are you talking about the first video in this thread. that was 2 yrs ago. look at the Suns game video that was linked a few posts before yours. he had same arc on the 2nd shot as the first.
yeah i just saw it....he definitely tried making it...there's no way in hell that was an attempted miss.....every time a player tries to miss he changes something, either he doesnt use his legs or he pushes the ball forward with little arch...it'll be pretty obvious. Gay shot both exactly the same. I think the only argument he has here is that he got caught up in his routine and actually forgot he was suppose to miss...that could explain his reaction, but that's about it.
I like how people still say that we should have kept him over Shane... The Rockets drafted for Memphis...we would not have selected Rudy Gay had we kept that selection.
this is how it's done. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ohHoK4-LeuY?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ohHoK4-LeuY?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Amen to that! I watched this whole game and there's no denying it. There is no rule in the nba from preventing you to purposely miss a FT shot. His second FT was in his orginal form and he followed the shot...nothin but net. I just thought the defense some people were give him were lame. If Gay was on the Rockets and he did something like that, im pretty sure we would go nuts. Poor Memphis fans, you got to feel for them.
Rudy Gay is tearing up the league in scoring right now not only that he is also number 1 in Fantasy Basketball! I wish the ROckets have him over Battier
