maximizing team production is most important. you tell me, how good should a team be with zach randolph as their best player?
rudy gay is fine in memphis. here's another question to pacify you for a while, what's the best team randolph's ever been on?
The problem with Gay is that his contract was ridiculous from the beginning (pretty much everyone thought so too).
We don't need gay when we got harden... Unless gay can play a melo type PF game here and we primarily stick him at the 4. Still, his contract would be atrocious
im saying rudy gay's PER doesn't mean crap right now memphis is just fine as a team. its a team game carl
for the slow at home, i'm also saying gay's PER would probably be higher if he played on a team that relied on him to be the focal point of their offense as it was earlier in his career.
I love Rudy, like I absolutely love this guy to bits. (yes homo) .. but since I am a Houston Rockets fan first and foremost I'd like to say I would want to wait until Free Agency in the summer to acquire someone like Josh Smith. THEN, (now is the key thing) We flip a bunch of role players and expirings for Rudy Gay on the cheap. E.g. Marcus Morris (I hate this dude he is a total b!tch.) Patrick Patterson Carlos Delfino Toney Douglas Cole Aldrich Future 1st Rounder Now we'll have a lineup of Jeremy Lin James Harden Rudy Gay Josh Smith Omer Asik THAT'S ELITE.
and if it wasn't why the @$@Q#$ would they want to ever trade him? damn @#@$@$@, people on this board want LeBron James at 1 million per year and nothing less.
Actually, Rudy's usage rate is 25.9 this year, a career high. His PER is lower because he shoots much worse than before. Also, his PER has never been above 17.8 no matter whether he's playing with Gasol/Randolph or not. His efficiency numbers (no matter if you look at TS% or ORtg) are also significantly lower than the true elite players in the NBA.
But it shouldn't be a factor after this summer's FA because we'd never being able to get someone remotely as elite as Rudy Gay is once we sign Josh Smith or Paul Millsap. JR Smith and Carmelo Anthony Ray Allen and Paul Pierce Dwyane Wade and LeBron James James Harden and Rudy Gay will work JUST AS EXCELLENT.
and your point is? You are expecting to get Karl Malone at his prime for the super duper ultra luper combination of Marcus Morris/Patterson/Douglas/Delfino?
Doesn't matter. If things go to plan we'd have already signed a very good, perhaps not elite, Power Forward in the summer FA. Then Rudy can just concentrate on what he does best and that is SCORING.
His contract his no worse than Carmelo's, Wade's, Tyson Chandler's, Deron Williams', Joe Johnson's and basically every star in the NBA apart from LeBron and KD. And just who exactly is paying the salary for the Rockets? Is Les Alexander making an annual appeal to the fans for contribution towards the Rockets' player salary? Man it just pisses me off everyone on this board wants the best players and nothing but the best players and only, and ONLY IF, they come from the bargain bin at no more than 1 million per year. FELLAS, YOU WANT QUALITY, YOU GO PAY FOR IT. LES ALEXANDER'S FRUGALITY AND PENNY-PINCHING HAS GOTTEN US NOWHERE IN THE LAST TWO DECADES.
