Perhaps I am being critical of Mobley but I do not believe I am the only one. There have been numerous threads that suggest that we need to trade mobley, none of which I have ever started, so I do not believe I am making these decisions based on emotive factors but my conclusion is based on what transpired during the games. Most Threads are usually direct results of what occurred during the games and I'm sure the "trade Mobley" threads are no exception especially considering the number of threads suggesting this action. During the season did you watch the countless times Mobley coulda, shoulda, wooda passed the ball we would have had better scoring opportunities. I swear with my own two eyes watching the games that Mobley not only was a selfish basketball player but also was blind not to see a 7 ft 5 giant standing in the paint waiting for a pass. This blindness became a pattern; a pattern that became popular clips on the famous sportscenter. So to answer your question, no I am not suggesting that we should simply dump Mobley just because I played with some guy who is like him. But instead, I am merely suggesting I have played team ball and understand the value of team chemistry. I do agree with you that Mobley did alter his game a little, perhaps the last few games of the season, and did play a higher level of defense. And in past post, I have suggested that if Mobley is willing to alter his game and become a defensive stopper, improve on his midrange shots, and learn the idea of team ball which can be grossly translated to having a common goal of working as a team to create the best opportunity to score on the offensive end and playing hard nose defense at the other end of the court. Of course, team ball not only requires selflessness but also a coach who has the creative abilities to teach/demand the players to play as one machine. I'm guessing this is the reason Rudy was let go aside from the fact that we didn't make the playoffs. So, Mobley isn't entirely to blame because the system that the Rockets were playing was simply street ball and maybe that is the reason why he hasn't been traded yet. Perhaps, management is waiting to see how Mobley reacts to another system another coach who might instill the discipline of team ball and teach the players things such as off the ball movement, cutting the lanes, pass first mentality, floor vision, setting picks, weak side help, defining the roles of our players etc... It will be interesting to see this summer if Mobley gets traded or has another chance to rectify himself from being labeled as selfish. One can only wonder...while a few already know.
Whether or not Rudy was fired, I'm not sure. But just the fact that he could have been fired should send a message to the players that they can't underperform, and not expect change. I'm glad that the Rockets stood up to Steve, and his bull**** about wanting to leave if Rudy left. He hasn't earned the right to make demands like that. Only after a few trips to the Conference Finals can he begin to have that level of power.
