Why? Lowry is the better PG, and we have Barry to back him up. Besides, third string PGs are fairly easy to acquire. SGs like Fernandez are not. The trade works on RealGM. Also, did you know that Fernandez started his pro career as a PG because of his superior ball-handling and passing skills. Heck, our turnover rate may go down based on this trade.
Lowry the better PG? You might want to reconsider, however, I dont doubt Lowry. And you really want Barry as the backup PG. I guess we really would be rebuilding. And if RF can play PG, great but you're not going to enter the season 1 deep at PG.
Nope, I do not wish to reconsider. Lowry set up plays better and penetrated better and stronger. Brooks had the better shot from distance but he often got snuffed driving to the basket -- he is just too little. Someday he will be craftier with his shot, but his generalship will always be limited.
Llull is not nearly ready for the NBA from what I have read. Fernandez is the real deal. He has the BBIQ to run a team, but I think Lowry has more command of Adelman's system and is a more natural PG.
Agree with you all the way. Talent wise obviously AB is better, but Lowry is a better fit to start if we have scorers at every position. I'm all for Rudy fernandez coming here, in my opinion he was the 2nd best player on that squad last season. My problem is we just got a boat-load of wings in the draft, if I was Houston I'd trade Chase and AB for Fernandez and maybe a 2nd round next year
did i miss something? I'm pretty sure the article said he had NOT requested a trade yet.....sounds like he'd rather go back to europe.
Why throw in Budinger? We will need him as a backup 2-3. The Brooks for Fernandez works by itself and is good, i.e. fills team needs, for both clubs.
Battier for Fernandez would be perfect especially if we can sign Gortat. We give the Blazers some veteran leadership and we can get a potential future superstar. If Yao is really out all of next season we don't have a huge chance at a title. The idea of starting to building around Brooks and Fernandez does not sound too bad. We would have a pretty solid line up too especially if we could sign Artest. Brooks/Lowry Fernandez/Taylor/ Barry Artest/ White/ Buddinger Scola/Landry Gortat/ Hayes/Dorsey
Run this on RealGM trade checker and you will see that Shane for Rudy does not work. Shane easily makes 5 times Rudy's earnings. Something I didn't think about earlier is this. Rudy still owes about $5M on his buyout. If he came to Houston, he probably would get a Chinese shoe product endorsement deal that would pay off his "student loan."
It sounds more like he's unhappy with his role on Portland. Mcmillan made him a spot up shooter, with a likely reduced role next year. The article said he didn't expressly request a trade, but I'm sure he'd like a starting gig elsewhere that could showcase his talents. He's supposed to be the next Ginobli with the pay to match, not the next Jon Barry.
Budinger is nice and all, but we also have JT, who is a more talented prospect. We cannot manage Battier, Wafer, JT and Buddinger all at the same time and expect to develop them. Of all four guards/sf's Buddinger has the least potential. If we can make a deal more enticing and get even more back in a trade by adding chase, I don't see why not. I think we need to acquire as many throw away picks in trades, even if they are 2nd round. Moyet has proven that he makes good choices with 2nd rounders (howeverI'm skeptical about Dorsey).
He's young, cheap, and talented. I don't see Portland coughing him up for change or an unproven rookie.
I like Rudy but without getting into his stats and what kind of player he is and how he could fit in (all the stuff I should talk about), let me just say he seems kind of wimpy...I'm just sayin... J/k, Rudy's a nice guard, wouldn't mind having him. Depends on what we'd have to give up to get him...still wimpy, though...
Why are all these European players b!tching about playing time, where they are playing. etc. Playing in the NBA is an honor. They should really keep quiet about this. Rudy shouldn't lash out yet. The Blazers haven't even signed Turk.
I'd definitely do Battier/future pick for Outlaw and Fernandez I would rather do Battier/Cook for Outlaw/Webster though. Apparently Martell's foot is healed now. Taking him and Outlaw off of the Blazers hands will open up more minutes for Rudy then (if they don't sign Hedo) seeing as how he would then be backing up Roy and Battier. Finish off by trading McGrady/Landry for Bosh/Banks/O'Bryant and sign Gortat and that's a young, but experienced lineup. I know it'll be disappointing for the "Win Now" crowd but we'd have a squad that can play together for 5-7 years (or more) easily if we did this. Brooks/Lowry/Banks Webster/Taylor/White Outlaw/Budinger/White Bosh/Scola/Hayes Gortat/Scola/O'Bryant
I posted something similar in the realistic trade thread... I really like this possiblity because it creates flexibility and matchup nightmares for teams now if Yao does come back by Jan or Feb this could be a very difficult team to contend with!
Indeed......and even if he doesn't, we're still set. There may not be a "defensive stopper" on the team like a lot of guys call for but with the length and quickness of this squad, our team defense would be ridiculous Also, I think that this would be a squad that AB would thrive with AND we would finally see Rick's motion offense come to life....NO MORE BALL STOPPERS! ! ! ! LOL
