They would be beyond stupid to trade Rudy for Andre Miller. Shane backing up Roy and Hedo takes that team to another level, IMHO. I would ask for Rudy and Bayless for Shane but they would likely laugh us off the phone. Would you guys do Shane for Rudy and Webster/Outlaw? That would take care of our wing spots for the future in one stroke. I'm afraid we need to unload Shane as soon as possible. At 31 now, his value will be wasted on this Rockets team.
Why? That he's huge for a contender is precisely the reason that only contenders would be interested in acquiring his services... He has no use to us now in our current state.
He had a terrible series against Houston. Two good games in limited minutes, and when they played Rudy a lot of minutes in games 5 and 6, he didn't show up. And how's Webster's foot? You pretty much know what you're going to get with Outlaw, who I'd like to have, although he isn't the brightest lightbulb in the NBA's starry sky. Shane would be huge on that team. I'd want a future 1st round pick before I'd consider it. edit: I assumed you meant Webster or Outlaw!
Why not? We still didn't see the official report of Yao's injury. If Yao only miss the 1st half of the season, the rockets are still a contender. In fact, this is better than Yao miss the the 2nd half season like he always did. We need him in playoffs. In addition, we don't know how long Tmac will miss either. I never doubt Tmac will recover and can play at a good level, although it may not be at 100% physical level. If all the rockets can come back and play at the 2nd half season and playoffs, we will have a good chance to win the title. Rockets cannot give up season right now. If they do, it means they will lose fanbase and business opptunities that they have had already. We all know that the rockets are in good enconomic shape right now. NBA is a business. They won't give up so easily.
The dude's a sharpshooter. No "streaky" shooter shoots 40 % from 3. Vince Carter is a streaky shooter. Baron Davis is a streaky shooter. Rudy Fernandez is NOT a streaky shooter. He hit 40 percent of his 3s in the season and 43% in the playoffs.
Fernandez moves very well without the ball which IMHO we need a little more of. A shooter with his ability would be great for this offense. I love Shane but would make the trade for Fernandez and Outlaw. I have not looked at the salaries to see if it is a match.
Nate turned Rudy into a spot up shooter but he has more skills than that. He could be a very good offensive player in the future, not just Jason Kapono v2.
I like Rudy's game. He is a lights out 3 point shooter and can drive to the basket. If Artest goes somewhere else this would be a nice pick up although his defense is weak.
Rudy is not a "shooter". People only see him as such because thats how he was used last year. That is also the reason why he is pissed now. He is so much more than that and was severely underused by Portland because they have Brandon Roy. Rudy is a play maker in the mold on Ginobili, or even Roy. Some of the passes he throws would make Rubio jealous. I am really high on him and think he has a shot of becoming an allstar one day.
If the Rockets can send Shane for a package include Rudy Fernandez, do it. It really doesn't matter who else they put in the deal, as long as its not a cancer or a horrible contract. The Rockets aren't going to be contending next year anyways, so they should be looking to stockpile young talent.
thacabbage, at this point I think we should look at that deal. You would do Rudy+(whatever player is the better asset). And then Morey can flip that player for someone else if he isn't high on either Webster or Outlaw.
How about Brooks, Battier and Dorsey for Rudy Fernandez, Jarryd Bayless and Joel Pryzbilla... plus whatever flotsam needs to be included to make the numbers work. I love all our guys.... but I love theirs too!
i see what you mean, but maybe people meant to highlight shooting as one of his many abilities, not solely as just a shooter? i agree with you that he's a talented playmaker
