Love how knee-jerk the OP was, Rubio has been struggling really hard and after one great game he's suddenly top 5. Nice that it only lasted for one game.
Wicky can't shoot and more importantly, can't score. He has to develop SOMETHING. A floater, a mid-range jumper, stand still 3 pointer.. anything.
It's weird that he's so good at playmaking and defense but can't shoot. I hope he develops some offense. Would be exciting to watch.
He's now shooting for the season 38% and 36.1% from 3 (somehow better than both of our PGs) Post All-Star: 10.1 PPG 10.2 APG 47% FG 44% 3PT 81 % FT 58% TS I'm not sure what exactly his finishing percentage is, but I know it's way higher than it was. Obviously this isn't going to sustain, but it's nice to see him at least be decent recently with his shooting. If he can level off somewhere in the middle, that would be great for him and the team given how he does almost everything else well.
Not really. Ricky Rubio has not made enough 3s to qualify for the 3pt FG% leader board. You need to be on track to make 55 in the season. He's only made 39 this season. If your starting PG cannot make enough 3 pointers to qualify for the leader board (he hasn't missed a game this year), then there's still a problem.
And yet with thier top 5 PG Rubio, their superstar PF Love and scoring machine Martin, the wolves can barely stay above .500. Until Rubio can put the ball in the hole with some effectiveness, he is not a great player. Right now he is decent at best. His 3pt% is only decent because he is left wide open, opposing defenses don't respect it even a little bit. Curry Irving Paul Dragic Westbrook Parker Lowry Wall Lillard Lawson Conley There's 11 PG's I would take before Rubio without even thinking about it.
Completely agree. I may even take a few more over him. But we live in a golden era of point guards. Just because you're an average to slightly above average starting point guard doesn't mean you're not a good player. And I would say there's some middle ground between great player and a "decent at best" player, which he's in. As far as the team goes, yea they have some individual talent (Love, Rubio, Martin, Brewer, Pekovic) but they don't really have the nuts and bolts of a good team and they don't really play good team defense. Combine that with the fact that they often blow leads, have a terrible bench (which is often the reason for their blown leads), and Martin can't make a single basket in crunch time, and you have a mediocre team playing at a level way lower than one would expect given the individual talent they have
