Royce White surprises radio station with call, says plan is to join D-League on Feb 11 (UPDATE)

sad thing is he's could probably the best rebounder on the roster after Asik SMDH.

I'm hesitant to say good news... simply because we've gone through this before. I'm not putting anything past Royce White, until I see him on the court. But, I am holding this as a positive for the Rockets....

I am intrigued that Royce White was a top 5 talent, which a lot of people shyed away because of his mentality....


If White makes it on the court, Morey just scored BIG time!!!

 

house note must be coming up. Rockets should have suspended him without pay a month earlier, he probably would have been back by now.

But if tomorrow he tweets something like...

So much waste already.

Honestly, the guy ended up in the ideal place, in the ideal city, with the ideal GM for his circumstances.

I don't believe any city would have embraced White more than Houston. This town loves an underdog who triumphs, more than any other city I have ever been around. The people here love redemption stories, triumph over impossible odds, and on top of it all, we have a propeller-head GM who saw enough in Royce to think this crazy zany plan might just work.

This could have been such a great story, a great year, could have been the feel-good phenomenon of the entire league, and maybe even of the entire country.

That is how much has been wasted.

The good news is, it could still happen - he could get his head screwed on straight, and this could all happen next year. But it COULD have happened THIS year.

I guess I just hope he doesn't end up like EG.

Royce.. oh, Royce.. we all so wanted to embrace you and let you be exactly the shining example you so clearly think you are.

Grow up fast kid.

His comment that McHale is his coworker from a business standpoint is basically true. But it may be a potential red flag depending on what Royce means by it. When McHale gives him instructions, are these directions from his coach/guru to be embraced and taken seriously, or mere suggestions from a coworker to be ignored?

Anyway, I think this is excellent news for Royce and the Rockets. As I've said before the road to NBA minutes for Royce leads right through the D-league no matter what team he's on. So the sooner he gets his ass to D-league the sooner he plays in the big leagues. Although we've been disappointed before when things didn't pan out, this is the first time I've heard Royce himself talk about going to D-league, so this time the team and Royce may be on the same page.

 

UH! MMM HMM! UH!

 

This sounds promising, but I'm used to disappointment. I'll believe it when I see it.

Also, and I mean this in the most respectful way possible, but wouldn't this be a thread that should be in the RGV section? I know there's a bit of overlap- I'm just confused as to where the line is drawn between the two.

 

The only reason White was drafted here was that McChale wanted him and yet White craps on his authority. Wow.

 

All this trouble and what if he turns out to be a Chucky Brown.
