If not getting minutes is causing White's anxiety issue, it would seem that a stint in the D-League would be good therapy. Get out there, play, keep score and get a chance to show that he can help.

I can understand why feeling like you don't have an opportunity to earn minutes can be stressful, especially with so many other young forwards competing for minutes. However, it wouldn't make sense to give "therapeutic" minutes to a player when it would not be fair to the other guys on the team.

This is a complete shame for both sides

Royce seemed like a really good guy, those player interviews he had with Jason Friedman made you want to root for him and succeed especially in light of what he has had to overcome to make it to the NBA. Now it seems that 98%+ of the Rockets fan base has turned on him and for good reason. You do not go out there on twitter or any other public communications and repeatedly throw your employer under the bus like that.

Mental illness or not -- that reeks of completely immaturity as a person, even if he is just 21. There are plenty of things he said on twitter that are completely fine and support his cause of being an advocate and bringing awareness -- but there are several others that should have been kept in house and not made public. In reality I honestly did not expect this sort of behavior out of him or any other Rockets players. His teammates have tried to reach out to him and he hasn't tried to reach back. He is completely painting himself to be a martyr when in fact his selfishness is the root cause of all of this.

Almost every rookie the Rockets have had played in the D-League for the sake of development -- heck he just needs to look at both Patrick Patterson and Marcus Morris, both of whom were selected higher than him in their NBA drafts go to the D-league put in work and now are reaping the benefits of that. I especially tip my hat off to Morris after a very shaky rookie year where he got a lot of heat from fans he stuck through it like a pro and now is a tremendous player for this team off the bench. As Greg Smith also tweeted - it is creating a rift also between the players who did play in the D-League and went through the bottom rungs of the ladder to reach where they are now. No rookie is ever guaranteed anything especially playing time -- hell remember how Rafer beat out both Mike James and Steve Francis for the starting spot? How? - because he busted his ass in practice and earned it. If Royce is not even willing to make it to practice -- how can he expect to ever play in any games? D-Mo, who was playing very well in Europe did not react the same when he was assigned to the D-League and if anything he would be more entitled to be upset considering he gave up being probably a bigger name in Europe to come play in the NBA

As for the Rockets -- regardless of what they do - and from what little we do know - it seems they have done all they can to accommodate Royce - buses to doctor appointments (which Royce said he never went to) - they will seem to be looked upon as the bad guy. They have every right to void the contract Royce signed as they have invested a lot of money into Royce and nothing to show for it since he wont even come to practice. The players union will fight of course against any voiding - but right now it seems like Royce is just content sitting back collecting the paychecks and pointing finger at the Rockets for not getting his way.

Honestly I hope the Rockets fine Royce as much as they can so that whatever money he has "earned" from his rookie contract end up going back to the Rockets as payments for his fines.

I cant recall the last time I have been so disappointed at the way a player has acted - I am glad Daryl Morey is doing his best to take the high road in all of this

White just tweeted that last night he told a hottie at a club that if she didn't give him playing time, it was going to give him anxiety. She walked away.

I think your chances of hitting lotto might be greater than another team giving this guy a shot.I'd also bet the only thing that will ever "explode" with White was his ego.

Dude doesn't want to go to the dleague, it will give him an anxiety attack. The best therapy in his eyes is for the coaches to shoehorn him into the rotation above players who have actually busted their tails in practices and have done their dleague time. That is the only way his anxiety can be cured.

Its going to be hard to know exactly the language that's written into his NBA contract. From everything I know the financial obligation is very hard for the team to get out of.

However, they can fine him to the point where they can recoup a large majority of the capital they have invested in him. This might put Royce and his agent in a situation where they are more willing to negotiate a buyout.

More than likely what will happen is the Rockets will continue to fine him to the point where Royce will either turn a corner, shut, and play... or things will get worse to the point where Royce will either be able to get an extended leave of absence, or come to the negotiating table to arrange a buyout.

At some point the fines will put him in a situation to go one way or another. No need to just waive him yet when you can let the situation play out, and recoup some lost expenses.

RW: Why am I not playing?

ROX: Royce, you have to earn your minutes. Jones and Motie are being patient, why cant you?

RW: I need to play because if I don't, I will have anxiety attacks and not show up to practice and pout.

ROX: You will get your minutes, but others on the team have earned their minutes. You will get yours...just be patient.

RW: I can't be patient because I need to play or I will lose my mind and cry loudly in-front of everyone.

ROX: Well we are going to send you, Motie and Mach to RGV so you guys can get your feet wet and we'll bring you back up in a bit.

RW: RGV?!?!?! Are you kidding me!? I need to play, but it has to be in the NBA! I need to start. I need a max contract or my anxiety will flare up. I swear it will.

RW: You all are not helping me here. I need a burger from my favorite stop in Iowa before every game, fresh. I need a shake made from 100% Cambodian breast milk, during half time. I need these things or I will snap....I promise.

    ROX: We support you Royce.

RW: No you don't....am I starting yet? If not, you aren't supporting me. You all don't care about me!

ROX: You will be fined for every game and practice you miss, Royce. Have a good one.

RW: SEE!!! YOU ALL DON'T CARE ABOUT ME!

    I need....I need...I need.

Pretty much how it went down. This dude is a joke.

    Coulda had Zeller. smfh

    This is just so lousy.

This is enough. I'd cut ties with him.

He will always have his anxiety as his excuse.

No need for a strike 3. 2 is more than enough.

honestly, if we cut ties with him, we aren't doing him any favors. In a sense, he'll feel justified that the rockets "didn't get him" and will continue to blame his life on people not "getting his anxiety." I think we keep him, keep the fines coming, and then see if he's willing to try and work through this. I think more than anything its immaturity, then anxiety.

Where's the agent? The publicity? The coach? The mentors? Most importantly, where's his family???

Royce... just stop. For the sake of all the people you claim to represent, just Stop.

This is rapidly going from ridiculous to just sad.

someone would. non-guaranteed deals, camp invites. There have been worse situations and guys kept getting 2nd and 3rd chances. Royce would too.

Anyway, releasing him right now makes no sense. It's just an 'f you' move that doesn't seem to benefit the franchise.

I know he's just trying to make everyone understand what he's going through but he's got to stop tweeting. Its getting childish and pedantic. If this is really about playing time then go to the d-league and earn it. Going on twitter and sh**ing on your employers isn't the way to get what you want. You can't say they're discriminating against you just because they won't play you, ask Mook...
