i agree, ron artest has had a generally successful career but he is the great exception. the greater likelihood is eddie griffin, brian williams, kirk snyder, delonte west...

Actually I think the D League does less traveling, and shorter travels, so this would seem to work well for him...But obv. there was a reason people didn't want to mess with this guy, we gambled, and lost on this one guys...sorry...I don't think Royce will be able to BE TRADED...

Is it me or is Royce making demands instead of requests?

Normally I'd agree. But in this case White has been forcing the Rockets hand by speaking so publicaly about everything. If he had kept things quiet, and worked out things with the Rockets behind doors, then I'm sure the public sentiment here would be towards him. But instead he's putting a gun to the Rockets head. First when he refused to show up to training camp to force a busing arrangement. And now missing a game and refusing to report to RGV.

In the end, it just seemed like White isn't ready to play in the NBA. Which is fine. He just need to tell the Rockets that he's not ready, tell them to stop sending him checks, get his life in order, and join the team when he can stand the rigors of the NBA again.

Someone else posted this already, but I thought it was hilarious:

Royce White stat line for 2012-2013

0.0 PTS 0.0 REB 0.0 STL 0.0 BLK 50.0 tweets per night (including off days)

    I agree with this.

-Even if Bull is right about what he has seen, he should have known that anything he would say would fuel the fire from Royce, and it gave something finite that Royce could object to and use in his defense. Now its a he said, she said game.

If the Rockets stance is to just pay as little to no attention to him whatsoever, and only agree to deal with him directly, the Rockets win in the end, and Royce only makes himself look bad for just skipping practice & games because of whatever he himself says.

Where the Rockets went wrong in this is trying to cover up his absenses with the migrane story. Even if it was in Royce's best interest financially to go along with this(medical/injury absense's allow for Royce to not be docked pay for contractual obligation).

They went the avoidence route rather than just telling the media that... "Royce is not with the team today. We are here to support his long term success in the NBA. Whenever he is ready to come back to his team, we will be here."

Leave it alone, and put the ball in his court. If the media asks about it, instruct the coaches to say that they have not recieved an official statement from Royce yet on why he is not with his team.

I like that Bull is standing up for the team, but the best thing in this case is to not give Royce the attention he so desires.

    Very true.

Demands, pouting...in my opinion, this has nothing to do with a medical disorder and the disorder (if existent) is in no way an excuse for this nasty behavior.

I still want to know what the Rockets have been "inconsistent" about.

Until Royce starts talking about the who, what, and why's on twitter, he needs to shut up.

Arguing with people on the internet is not going to make this situation better for him, or garner sympathy for his cause/condition.

The problem is, if what Bullard says is accurate, and we have no reason to think it isn't, he isn't accepting the help and therapy that has been offered. He hasn't even gone once to the provided therapy, so he can't even say he tried it and didn't think it was helping. Hard to help some one in that situation.

Right or wrong, his twitter comments paints himself as someone who is more angry about his play time than something that really has to do with his anxiety issues. Though it is completely possible that his mental issues are what is leading him to behave the way he has.

Unless Royce gives us more details on exactly what the Rockets are or aren't doing, that the general public would agree is unfair, it's going to be very hard for him trying to win public sentiment via twitter. In fact he is in danger of hurting people who have mental health issues instead of helping them if he continues down this road. Dropping twitter would be wise.

I think we all have to question Royce Whites desire to play basketball. Did he need special travel arraignments from the team to get from his appartment to the Toyota Center for practice and games? If you are looking for routine in your day, then arbatrarily missing games and practices seems a funny way to achieve a routine. Plus, if basketball is something you love and want to do then shouldn't the basketball court be something of a refuge for you? A place where you do have a routine? A place where you are comfortable?

I just don't think Royce has a desire to play for the Rockets or to be in Houston. He seems to be searching for reasons to stay away instead of looking for reasons to show up.

This whole thing was way too public from the get-go, and most of that is on Royce for not getting to camp when it started. That started a mini-firestorm because it prompted the media to ask about him.

If they would have communicated and gotten him there at the beginning, they could have worked out the whole bus thing and kept it in-house. And now Royce is just pouring gasoline on the fire through his statement and twitter when this should all be private discussions between him and the Rockets.

Singling himself out, holding himself above the team, acting like he has cancer or a real sickness, demanding everyone change for him instead of developing himself, crying, whining, tweeting - total crap. He would get fired or not even hired at any other job. He has two skills: basketball and manipulation. Basketball isn't what he is passionate about, it's just a means to get money for a his "art" (oh your sooo deep Royce) interest. Now he can claim a disease (LOL) pocket the money and go do what he really wants to do, what he's really in it for: $$ to create a record label.

I just don't see this as being on the Rockets at all. Royce should have been honest about what he thinks he needs to be successful during pre-draft interviews, when he signed his contract, during the summer prior to training camp etc... Instead he waited until media day and 1st week of training camp to start trying to negotiate a special agreement into his contract while he refused to attend camp. He could of had his agent work with the Rockets on these issues while he attended camp.

Royce had no issues attending summer leagues and practices prior to him signing his contract with the team.

Just a few weeks ago Royce made a statement on Twitter responding to a followers posting about his wanting to make it as a basketball player, and his response back was something that said "I never planned on making it" in the Tweet.

Does this sound like someone who really has it in him to be great at what he does?

If I'm in sales for a living and I tell people "I never planned on making my quota" guess what Im probably never going to do??..... Make my quota.

I think the reason White hasn't gone to the doctor the Rockets provided is because he's afraid he/she may actually help him. It's now clear he uses his disorder as a crutch and also a source of power and influence. His current doctor must be enabling him like crazy.

Please tell me he is not also a "Now I can start a record label!" NBA athlete in addition to everything else.

You were just being facetious, right?
