Royce White skips game and practice (UPDATE: White issues statement)

Of course it matters. How can his physician help him ,If she doesnt know how to treat the problem. Maybe his physician can sit in with him on the consultations but of course it matters. Your not going to hire your cable guy to install a toilet in your house . I understand his trust issues but he needs to get it together ,and quickly or bridges are gonna be burnt that cant be rebuild .

McHale really wanted him apparently. The Rockets probably did plenty of interviews with his coaches and such, and obviously determined the risk was worth the reward. We were panning downstream from the mine for all-star gold, remember? If we hadn't taken him, Dallas would have. They're known to do their homework, too. Or the organization simply underestimates the ability of mental issues to ruin a player's development, e.g. Terrence Williams.

When you get paid like a professional, it is expected by the fan base and management for a player to act like a professional. Granted, this is the NBA and there are divas galore and lots of things can be overlooked. They have given him access to mental health professionals and alternate transportation for his fears. I really don't know what else you want him to be given. Warm milk on request? I agree with you though that this is probably going to end in a courtroom if it continues to spiral downward.

Ive run out of patience with him but cannot stop watching this train wreck.

 

This has gotten so ugly...I don't see any way this can be fixed with all this bad blood from tonight.

Could this be about Royce needing anti-psychotic meds for his anxiety disorder to play in the NBA? I know the league has a zero tolerance drug policy, but maybe Royce is the first player that needs medication to help with his anxiety on the court. Maybe the league sees that as an unfair advantage because everyone has to deal with anxiety. It's possible the Rockets told him we can provide you with free therapy, but you can't take the medicine 48 hours before a game.

 

This is not mental illness anymore, this is r****dation.

Interesting take. Sounds to me like the org didn't really prepare their staff properly and likely underestimated severity.

Has anybody who is involved with taking care of Royce, whether it's his mom, agent, PCP, anybody, ever thought about contacting him and preventing him from tweeting?

OH, BOO FREAKING HOO!!!

My daughter has a tumour in her skull. She has just returned from her chemotherapy treatment and is throwing up. She still gets up eager to go to school. She still gets up for church & she still goes out and tries her best at little Athletics on Fridays...She gets on with life and doesn't use her illness as an excuse to shirk her responsibilities.

She knows that she can inspire other kids around her by going all out and doing what needs to be done. No whining, no playing the blame game & no excuses.

This is an 8 year old girl, not an adult 'professional' athlete who gets paid big bucks to play sport. Shame on you Royce, Shame.
