You read a lot about sports figures and/or celebs deleting their twitter account on the advice of the team or PR people... so why hasn't anyone told Joyce to delete his account?

Morey might be relying too much on the interview aspect when trying to uncover that hidden gem.

When Patterson was drafted they wouldn't stop raving about how Patterson blew them away with his interview. This is a guy they deemed top 5 talent.

Royce White is another guy they consider top 5 talent and again the interview seems to have been influential:

Im pretty sure the Rockets organization is utilizing what modern businesses call "Direct Deposit" that allows for his paycheck to be wired to his bank account each month electronically.

How do you know nobody has told him to delete his account?

It's quite obvious the man is an idiot. He can't even front up to practice, I find it hard to believe he'd take advice from anyone. If told, I imagine he'd respond (via Twitter): "so and so told me to delete my Twitter account. Yo, it's about my health and my needs man."

    Are we definitely paying him?

Surely not if he isn't doing his job....

I feel the smartest thing for him to do is practice his butt off until his situation get worked out so he can come in and dominate but without any practice, he just wasted half a year moaning and crying :(

You mean, is Les paying him?

Based on the last report that came out a week or so ago from Ken Berger, Royce apparently is now complying with the Rockets contractual demands for him to see a team appointed Doctor(Dr. Fink) if he's not participating in team activities.

    So, based on that-

-yes he should be getting paid like normal
-no he's most likely not getting fined anymore since he is seeing the doctor
-no, he's not much closer to returning to the team than he was before

My guess is he probably sits out the entire season as it stands. If a trade happens that opens up playing time, maybe that would entice him to return to the team, but right now what motivation does he have to return? Next Summer he probably will participate in training camp, and possibly Summer league. Then see what goes from there. If in training camp he its clear that he's going to be buried on the bench with better talent ahead of him, he will most likely be waived at that point.

In the meantime, he's just a roster spot. If a trade comes down and the Rockets need that roster spot to take on another player, I doubt the Rockets think twice about waiving him in a heartbeat. Right now, the Rocket have little motivation for waiving him, and Royce has little motivation to be with the team.

The rockets aren't going to stop paying him...they would just fine him, which i believe already stopped.

White would have thrown a twitter fit if Houston stopped paying him completely.

Royce is singlehandedly giving Twitter a bad name.

    Dear Royce,

I was excited about you the most out of all the three draft picks. I was glad Lamb was traded and not you. But now, I wish it was you instead of Lamb.

Why the ***** is it refreshing to hear of someone who dealt with her mental health privately?! Would you say the same of cancer? You would NOT. I'm not defending Royce but you need to get educated. You are party to a bias that means that mentally ill people cannot even call in sick when they are paralyzed by their illness. They have to lie and say they have flu. Why?

Because society doesn't recognize mental illness as real; people tend to think you can snap out of it with the right attitude or, failing that, that you would at least keep it to yourself. After all, it's all in your head! And how untoward to talk about it!

You tell someone you have some other serious disease and they practically want to track your well-being. They look forward to FB updates that indicate progress and are grateful to be kept up to date when there is bad news as well.

But how rude to talk about mental illness in polite company! Seriously, can you even imagine us speaking with others about our mental illness in the way that cancer patients do? Even when it is nearly as deadly?

Not blaming the poster I quoted because this is how most people that have not personally experienced mental health issues feel. I don't even blame them. Because it is absolutely impossible to imagine what it is like until you've lived it. It is unique to other diseases in that at least, and it is hard to be empathetic about something one doesn't understand.

Mitch Hedberg once said that alcoholism was the only disease you could get yelled at for having. He was wrong. We don't discuss mental illness in polite society either. In fact one would rather learn that their friend or family member was addicted than crazy. And he would be right to be relieved in that way. Because mental illness is far more serious and awful a diagnosis than addiction. You would rather your friend were a crackhead to him being bipolar because you can actually be cured from being a crackhead.

Everyone should handle their own issues in whichever way they want and I understand someone wanting to handle theirs privately (especially given the societal stigma), but to recognize privacy as a virtue in this is indicative of the underlying problem in how the well-adjusted add insult to injury with the mentally ill even when having the best intentions.

I know exactly what it is like to live with GAD, because I was diagnosed with it in 2008. Instead of using it as leverage, I decided to work that much harder to succeed.

I know several other professionals that I work with who deal with the same thing and have the same outlook.

It is refreshing to see other Athletes overcome this obstacle without taking to Twitter, but by working hard.

I have half a mind just to make a twitter account to tell this dip**** to shut up. I love how he's using a disgusting event to further his agenda. What a moron.
