I can give you a ton of reasons why White's ceiling isn't even close to Thomas Robinson. Thomas Robinson has the raw ability and athleticism to be successful in the league and he's also willing to learn while White rather get an interview than getting on the practice court to improve his game. Royce White may have more skills than Thomas Robinson, but Robinson has the explosiveness and the drive to be a good player. Royce White doesn't put in the time and effort to improve his game even though he has a lot of weaknesses. White doesn't possess the explosiveness, quickness and agility to go against longer and more athletic defenders. Sure he can dribble the ball around but no point in that because when the Rockets are on a fast break, they give the ball to Harden or Lin. White show some flashes in his passing but a majority of that ends up a turnover. From watching some of White's games, it seems like he much rather try to make a flashy pass than making a simple but effective pass. Royce is just a waste of time and a waste of a pick. At least Thomas Robinson is on the court for the Houston Rockets. Plus on top of that, the Rockets coaching staff are going to groom him and make him a special player. They are not going to even waste their time with Royce White...
One could argue that he had about as good of a game as Jones really, they both shot 64% from the floor and that's with White mailing one in on the last possession to run out the clock. Jones 7 steal was hilariously awesome though. but I should note that it's a huge sign of encouragement to see White play 25 + min with no PF. (Jones had 4) watched the later half, with both guys on the court they basically just shut down Tulsa's game in the paint completely. Tulsa hide this for a little while in the 3rd when they kept knocking down hard 3s. but once they stop doing that the game pulled away immediately. Purely from a basketball POV, White can ball, most of his early struggle seem to be just a rust / shape thing.
<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CHWmeuTDO3k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Its funny how he asked White "what weren't you receiving from the Rockets" and White kept going on and on and he have to repeat the question again because White can't answer it.
If you watched, you know Jones game was way more impressive. But I will note that Royce's shot looks to be improving. And Jones can handle the ball very very good.
Jones is far more physically impressive to be sure, but then again, Glen Rice Jr probably even more physically impressive than Jones as well. that's of course not the entire point (granted Rice probably should catch up with someone this off season if not us) White's game was never about physical dominance, it's more about his court vision and passing, if he can develop a legit shot like he flashed today, should be good enough to play in the NBA in some capacity at least. I should note that I'm more surprsied that White had 0 PF in 25 min +, Jones had 4.
Keep in perspective it is still DL level of competition..... Next step for rookies... solid contribution against lesser or mediocre NBA teams Final step: Good games against playoff and title contenders
It says nothing about White.... previously he wasn't the most aggressive one... and still often fouled out or got ejected because he did not care
Rockets don't seem to be that kind of organization. They have always been a take the higher road and make an effort to make things work type of business. If they think R.W. has any chance of succeeding they will keep the door open. They probably see him as a pain in the butt, but are willing to put up with it for now. But they wouldn't hesitate to discipline him if he did violate some rule.

Keep in mind that he has only one year left.... so little time to prove his worth and we keep on piling up those PFs
Royce White: "The NBA schedule and how hectic it is probably ain’t going be the best thing for me." 1/2 Royce White con't. "I knew all this before hand but I "tricked" the Rockets into giving me a contract first. #BeWell friends” 2/2 No, he did not really tweet that, ha.
I think he has to be cut fairly soon to make sure the last year isn't guaranteed right? His upside is too high for the Rockets to cut him. I really wish he wasn't so active on Twitter.
No matter what he does on the court, which to date ain't much, the Rockets need him to get his health to the point where he can show up for work no matter the travel schedule. The travel schedule during the playoffs and finals won't necessarily be easy.
i hate to say it but everytime it looks like this thing is over and he is leaving we get PR saying he is back in the D-League. i think he realizes houston is the end of road and he's going to be working at walmart if he doesn't get his act together
Lol white situation is so entertaining! Morey is playing money ball ! Undervalued asset ! If white gets his ****t together morey looks like a genius. His not going to make a second Linsanity mistake cutting him and he makes it somewhere else.
