White would get laughed out of court.

I don't take mental illness issues lightly, and I'm sympathetic to the cause. Let's agree to disagree about the legal theory. I think we probably agree about the underlying point. And I agree that it will largely turn on issues of good faith.

While Morey is the GM, it's well documented that McHale is the reason behind White being drafted.

"If McHale can pull this off Houston's a question mark at 18...The rest of the room is against you... The rest of the room besides McHale says you're too risky..." (3:55 Mark)

Yeah, White doesn't seem as attached to basketball as I think he needs to be to succeed at this level.

But in my totally non-medical personal opinion, I do think he has a type of mental illness. It's just not so obviously debilitating as some other mental disorders that the public is familiar with.

I actually recently managed a contract employee who acted in an eerily similar way as White is doing now. As time went on, she began to make increasingly unrealistic demands and take time off for reasons that seemed outlandlish to me and everyone else on the staff.

But even when she was eventually let go, I think she TRULY believed that her erratic actions were not only acceptable, but within her rights as an employee.

I suspected that this was a symptom of a "mild" mental illness - mild because she was an excellent employee when she chose to be. But I never mentioned this to her because I didn't feel qualified to make such a comment.

I also felt that deep down, her actions might be as frustrating for her as they were for those whom she worked with.

Royce White sounds like one of those guys that would send your ass back if his his eggs are overcooked. All the conditions have to be perfect in order for this guy to play and if they are, he'll overanalyze everything to he finds a fault.

Seriously he's being a hypocrite right now. I tempted to make a twitter account and say something to him from reding all the responds on his twitter feed. Someone please give me a good summary of this situation so I can make some sense of this.

(PS. What the hell is "protocol debate"? Can someone clarify this?)

Yeah I do. But I'm wondering whether Morey's really smacking his head and wishing for a 'do over.' Maybe this process is not as frustrating for him as it is for us fans.

Morey seems to show a willingness to take a chance on "head cases" if he believes the talent is there. Artest and Terrance Williams are two examples off the top of my head.

i am certainly not on White's side on this but to be fair, Artest got playing time for day 1 and pretty much starts every game.

I'm sure if the Rox made Royce White a starter he'd find a way to show up.......maybe that's the protocol the rockets wont agree with, haha.

Artest didn't skip workouts and showed up for work everyday. He was truly grateful to be drafted and worked his ass off from day one. He earned his time. White has not.

It really seems that this "protocol" White wants is unearned PT. And the funny thing is that, given the team's style of play, he would have gotten burn had he just shown up for work.

Just posted this -- this was the phone call we had from the Toyota Center with Royce White on draft night.

2:20 mark. I just can't believe someone as smart as Royce could confess the red flags in his history, acknowledge how much of a risk the Rockets took in him and express so much gratitude for them doing so.... and then do what he has done since Media Day.

What a drama queen. I doubt he actually came up with those twitter statements. Rockets will get rid of him but I've a feeling some other team will pick this loser up. Godspeed Royce White! :p

    Welp, two possibilities.

Waive him, or just keep fining him and deducting his salary until they get it under control.

Hate to see a 16th pick go to waste, but sometimes you get what you get.

Saw this posted on Realgm. Is this true?

It's McHale's move more than Morey's move. If the Grantland draft day video is correct, Morey and the rest of the organization felt it was too risky to pick Royce in the first round but McHale fought them on it and convinced them (due to McHale's connections in Minnesota with Royce White's coach). If anything, I think this teaches Morey not to listen to a former GM who got fired from being a GM. McHale screwed Morey over big time

What have Royce White done to deserve the $1.6, $1.8 million dollars contract? NOTHING! Why not just release this fool and say he has not fulfilled his contract. He is talking from the perspective of a personal problem while the Rockets is talking about the business problem...it's not working and so let's part way and let this immature fool go.

If he can't play in the D-League, what make you think he can play anywhere else? lol. There is going to be all sorts of problem. For example, coming off the bench, he could say hey doctor, i don't feel good about coming off the bench, i want to start or else i am going to have anxiety lol. The doctor is going to say...you're right and so he could come out and say the Rockets are not doing what the doctor is recommended which is to start him in the lineup lol. But you know the point, this is getting stupid and absurd.

I wish he would change his twitter profile picture. He shouldn't be representing the rockets with that cap on.
