Do you want the Rockets to give up on Royce White?

  1. No. He's a talent that can help us win down the road.

I had the same thought. Did his college career start like this and then get better? Did his symptoms get worse as time progressed? Is there a reason he turned pro (I think he left a year early) when he did other than talent was appropriate? Any history we can extrapolate from?

I was reading an old SI article on Morey. Said Morey asked Les permission to draft White as he was such a high risk choice, but Morey saw White as a top five talent. Obviously disappointed with the results so far, would Rox take similar risk again, do you think they have given up yet - like the fans have? Presumably they have a longer range outlook than us.

I can't believe how much I hate this piece of ****. Royce White is something else, he's got more than an anxiety disorder, the guy was dropped on his head a few too many times. #broken #r****d

Rockets could also argue that a player signing an NBA contract has made at least an implicit representation that he could play in the NBA. There are things the Rockets need to bend (reasonably accommodate) to give Royce, and things Royce has to accept as baseline requirements for an NBA player. Without knowing more facts, it is difficult to say where the issues in dispute fall.

But it feels like it is close to time. To move on. For all involved.

He'll bite his ass on this one.
Not after that wasted effort with Thabeet, Flynn, Hill and TWill.

Just when I thought that this whole "situation" may work out after all I go on nba.com - and what do I have to read? "Royce White refuses D-League assignment."

I understand that he needs special treatment due to his mental illness, but who does White think he is? He is an employee after all, and he's refusing to work. The least thing the Rockets should is suspend him without pay.

Adding to that, issuing these weird statements and being on twitter the whole time doesn't really help his case. Gosh, I wish we had picked someone else.

Wonder what the current situation is in regards to his contract. Is he cashing paychecks right now?

I can see this going in the direction of a buyout/waive with Royce getting paid for his rookie contract. If the rockets try to not pay him, he would probably sue, which would lead to a quagmire of bad PR.

The gauntlet has been thrown as it were.

I feel bad for Morey in this situation. Royce is the very embodiment of the word manipulative.

No joke. Signing a contract to play in the NBA implies several things... foremost among them: that you will play in the NBA.

Royce is trying to deflect all sane contractual logic by saying it didn't come from a doctor. Doctors are apparently the sole source of knowledge in this world (and probably, in Royce's mind, only the doctors that he agrees with).

He sure has spread awareness...that people suffering with mental illness cannot handle the NBA. Bc of his "awareness" good players who suffer from mental illness that deserve a chance will never get one.

I hate to sound crass here, but Houston desperately needs White's roster spot. We really need more depth on the team right now, and could especially use another scorer.

I don't know what the team needs to do in order to wash its hands of this situation, but I hope that they can do so as fast as possible. If that means some kind of financial settlement with White, then please do it as fast as possible.

This is a train wreck. It needs to end as quickly as it can, so that the team and the organization can move on.

To say I am disappointed in White would be the understatement of the decade. I don't want to just be negative on him, but I will be happy when he is no longer part of the organization.

I think he's expedited his cataclysmic end of days (with the Rockets) by refusing to go to D-League.
