NBA's Encyclopedia page lists Johnson as 6'9", 255lbs. So actually they are built almost identically, with White weighing maybe 10lbs more or so.

And when I say he *reminds* me of Magic, understand I am only saying that some of the things I have already seen White do, it made me think, 'Hey, that's something I remember seeing Magic do,' or 'The way this big bulky kid brings the ball up and takes joy in making great passes, that reminds me a bit of Magic Johnson.'..

It does NOT mean that anyone is directly comparing White to Johnson, or saying White will be as good as him, or be anything like him at all really.

Just that there are certain aspects to his game which are reminiscent of Magic Johnson's game.

Why do people get so bent out of shape by that? It's not disrespectful to Magic, and it is not overly flattering to White. It is just an honest observation.

And for the record, yes, I was watching NBA ball before Magic & Bird entered the league.

White is not nearly the dribbler that Magic ways. For that matter, neither is Lebron.

I might accept the comment that White's dribbling and passing (of course, not scoring) can be compared to a big man like Lebron, but not Magic.

I see Royce as a very very poor mans Magic as well. He's just not quick enough though to reach a close enough level. Too big and bulky. Not that Magic was the most athletic guy out there though.

If we had an Eric Gordon, we could easily run Royce at the point with Gordon guarding 1's and Parsons guarding 2's.

Maybe fat old AIDS-riddled late 90's Magic weighed 255 lbs. Basketball Reference lists him at 215, which is more in line with my memory. I rember seeing him listed at 220 back in the day.

I guess Hakeem remind me a little.bit of Richard Nixon - I mean they both have 2 legs, 2 arms, and a head.

I'm not bent out of shape. I think, like essentially every comparison thread, that the similarities are so vague that comparisons are meaningless, and misleading at best for anybody that hasn't seen one or the other play.

It's not fair to White to be even mentioned as having
a game similar to or reminiscent to Magic, it only heightens
    expectations!
    I love White's demeanor/game but don't count the
chickens until they hatch.......I hope he does become the
next best player in the NBA....."WITH THE ROCKETS"

He reminds of Magic as well, but obviously not as good. I'm really happy with the pick though.
