Hocash, why do you still try to defend this kid? It's blatantly obvious by now that he's full of ****....I get why some gave him the benefit of the doubt at one point, but damn I don't understand how anyone could still buy his BS.

You are the one who seems clueless, and I'm an expert in this area.

What the poster you are quoting said was 100% true. And the reason that White pisses people off is because he is sending out the wrong message to others suffering from similar problems. He is a horrible horrible spokesperson for mental illness and he should be ashamed of himself.

Having a mental disorder is one thing, but using that disorder to manipulate others is shameful. White seems to have no disregard for other people, from the Rockets to his babys mamas. If he were suffering alone it would be one thing. But here is a case where he is hurting others, so he should expect to face a backlash.

It's one season. Just one season.
Some guys act like he killed someone. Give the guy an offseason and see if he makes progress. People with OCD need routine. It's hard for him to have a routine if he (thinks) he'll be on the Rockets next year instead of RGV.
Working with people that have mental illness can be tough but if you stay open minded you can often figure out a way to make things work. I understand if people think he's not worth the trouble, basketball wise. But why would anyone wish him ill?
    It's just mean.

The NBA isn't a welfare program.

So, if someone actually had anxiety disorder, how would that person act differently than Royce has? Assuming he doesn't just quit basketball.
I'm annoyed he posts on Twitter non stop, but I don't think any of the other stuff is out of line.

As opposed to drafting a kid and paying him 7 figures to suck for a year or two while you develop him? And most NBA teams put that ****ty rookie on the court and force us fans to watch that garbage. Austin Rivers?

In this case, the Rockets are hoping both his game and his reaction to being in the NBA both develop. I'm just not wishing him ill is all.

There have almost certainly been NBA players with GAD before, yet none of them acted like Royce White.....

I can get over the fact that he was pathetic on the court in the D league his first year, that's no big deal, I won't get over that he walked out on his team because he was headed to the bench. It's only made worse by the fact that he's blaming it all on a mental illness. You walk out on your team, you're done, especially when you are a scrub level player.

Here is Royce White's CNN interview today.

Royce talked in the same broad terms that he usually does -- routine, normalcy, sense of comfortability and belonging. He said "the setup in McAllen surely doesn't promote that," citing that he lives out of a hotel for an elongated period of time. He says: "There are some issues on the table that need to be addressed and we're calling this a time to address them."

Because the answers were so vague and broad, the CNN reporter had to ask him three times, "What did you need from the Rockets that you did not receive?"

There's a difference between just not going to work and going to work, trying your best, and not being good enough. Royce White lives in his own world where he believes it's everyone's obligation to comply with his every demand. If he was LeBron James with ungodly talent, I could understand the trouble of trying to reason with the lunatic, but he's not even good. Scrubs who can't even make a Euroleague team dominate the D-League daily and he sucked...bad.

Well his play wasn't saying anything good because honestly he's not really good enough to be a D league starter, but even that would have been better than his words and actions have been.

Basically what this clown did is told everybody in draft interviews that he wouldn't be a problem. Then all of a sudden he flipped the switch once he realized his contract was guaranteed no matter what. He is absolutely delusional. Could you imagine any of us going to work and making crazy demands based on things we can't even prove? "I'm gonna have a panic attack if you don't let me take every Thursday off with pay"

I think the most frustrating thing for me is that Royce White is treating basketball like some soul-sucking job that he's just in to get money. And he doesn't understand why people are making such a big deal about money.

And I feel like he's missing the point. It pisses me off that he is, for whatever mental/emotional/therapeutic reasons, not being able to see all the gifts that he is given physically and as a basketball player. There are so many organizations where he'd get so lost in, who would probably have less patience with him or have a lockerroom like the one Sac started out with.

Parsons had to be barred from the practice court today because the coaches want him to take a break. Lin, on his day off, decided to refresh himself by playing basketball with friends and family. Harden has tweeted about staying late after practice just 'cause. And I look at this guys and every time Royce opens his mouth I just wish him off the team.

Let him go. He will only hurt our team with this long soap opera of his.

Bye Royce, you only hurt your own bright future.

It's always "just money" till you run out of it and your bills are due.

:rolleyes:Give me a break, this kid needs to grow up. The only thing wrong with him is immaturity. He needs to accept responsibility for his own actions. The whole mental illness thing is a huge cop out that he uses to blame his immaturity on. He is an adult and needs to act like one. If he truly is having anxiety / panic attacks then there are many medications he can take. When a person is an adult, then they should accept that responsibility and act like it. If he doesn't want to play basketball and use the God given talent he has then he should quit. If he does want to play then he should grow up and do it. I know all about anxiety /panic attacks. My mother has always had the same problem. She took medication for it and did not let it get in the way of her responsibilities. That is what adults do. The Rockets should suspend him without pay until he grows up.
