As I see it, that is merely the first thing he must do.

I'm curious, if Royce refuses to report and honor his contract is there a process where the Rockets could void his contract, open a roster spot and hold on to his rights?

It's only been 5 hrs since he was last tweeting.

It seems to have been a pretty late meeting, probably why there hasn't been any news or comments.

He already said in the recent interview that he would report to the D-league. Whatever sources said about previous statements or problems, he is saying he will go and doesn't have a problem with it now.

Who knows what really happened before, but that is all that matters now.

Apparently, legally its extremely difficult to get it done. I remember something about the Latrell Sprewell contract not being able to be voided even after the coach choking incident.

The Rockets best course of action is to keep fining him until he comes to them to agree to waive himself with no financial penalty to the team. So basically quitting. If the Rockets come to him to ask for a buyout, he will probably be able to negotiate more money just by power of negotiation. Its a blinking contest essentially. The Rockets are shrewd businessmen, I doubt they blink first.

I have no doubt though that Les will want to fine him for every single possible thing he can. He's nobody that you want to F with financially. He didn't earn his billions by being a pushover in the pocketbook.

    interesting vid....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRUS6QBiViQ&feature=fvwbrel

Agent: "everyone in the room is against it other than McHale" "they think you're too risky"

McHale breaks out indefinitely....Royce's problems begin.

Is McHale gone for good or something?

Why Royce react that way unless something isn't being said in the public yet.

Its quite possible that McHale leaving indefinitely caused some sort of a trigger to Royce's behavior disorder. There might be trust issues with him and some of the other coaches, but more than likely its not related. Its been reported that this isn't the first issue by a long stretch. Its been a long saga since the Bus thing in training camp.

McHale's daughter is very ill in Minnesota. I hope he comes back sooner rather than later because that means his daughter has recovered. The longer he's away, the worse her illness has become. Whether you like McHale or not as a person, we all should be wishing them the best.

Warriors voided Sprewell's contract after the choking incident but he took it to arbritration and won, and as a result, the voiding was overturned.
Technically, Rockets can void his contract, but with the way Royce tweeting and his manipulation of press, it would cause PR nightmare and I don't think it's the route Les will take.

At the 6:30 mark Royce says Houston took a chance on him, but they didn't have to. They took a chance on him and they didn't have to and that says something.

Royce, in your own words they took a chance on you and they didn't have to. It's time to repay that trust they put in you and trust them.

Yes...yes...absolutely...praying for him and his family at this extremely important time for them...Listen I think Mchale was clearly one of the best in the game as a player, but as a coach, his record has been spotty. Maybe with time it improves, maybe he doesnt...but i really dont think anyone would wish him anything but the best during this trying time.

Now in regards to the royce white video...Mchale vouched for White...and he clearly knows that the rest of the Rockets mgmt...thought of him as a risk...Royce owes Mchale a lot for 1. being picked as a mid 1st rounder 2. he wouldve been passed up by a lot of folks if the Rockets didnt pick him up...couldve been in the second round...and his salary wouldnt have been as high...Royce needs to just play basketball...true talent will eventually make it to the top...and if he thinks he's the best among players in his draft class, he owes it to the people that stuck by him...No more drama...shut up...and play ball...if you cant do that...you lost ur career and the biggest platform that one can have to bring awareness to mental illness.

They took him way earlier than they even had too...

But the team can fine him till he complies...Rockets will be patient on this one...and in the end if Royce wants out he will have to do it according to the Rockets mgmt terms...

McHale's wife is from Houston area. Her parents and brothers still live in the area. If I remember correctly, McHale has three children and only the youngest boy still lives with them. It doesn't usually look good if an adult is gravely ill.

I hope Royce continues his antics. More money saved by the Rockets and an idiot getting his due. This guy lives in a fantasy world that includes only him. Rockets need to rock that world by stripping him clean of every dollar possible. Jerk has done nothing to deserve his paycheck. I hope he doesn't report to the D-League as well.

Royce White is suffering from a mental illness and it is called Narcissism. defined by wikipedia as follows:

Narcissism is a term with a wide range of meanings, depending on whether it is used to describe a central concept of psychoanalytic theory, a mental illness, a social or cultural problem, or simply a personality trait. Except in the sense of primary narcissism or healthy self-love, "narcissism" usually is used to describe some kind of problem in a person or group's relationships with self and others. In everyday speech, "narcissism" often means egotism, vanity, conceit, or simple selfishness. Applied to a social group, it is sometimes used to denote elitism or an indifference to the plight of others. In psychology, the term is used to describe both normal self-love and unhealthy self-absorption due to a disturbance in the sense of self.

I am just glad Morey and White met recently, instead of all this vague twitter statements. I hope White reports to the Vipers, improve his skills and does well enough to be an impact player in the NBA. Morris and Jones are showing lots of potential and putting pressure on the incumbent starter Patterson, whose weakness is his rebounding. With White's ball handling skills and passing ability maybe he can play point on occasion (wishful thinking).

Good luck to the Rockets and White regardless if things don't work out and White quits the NBA for health reasons or gets traded.
