Yeah, maybe I went a little overboard saying he was more athletic than Larry Johnson. But, that's kinda the whole point of Royce White's game is the fact he is that big and has very good quickness and footwork, so I was a little miffed by people saying he was not very athletic.

After going back and looking at an Anthony Mason mix on youtube, I can get on board more with that comparison. Mason had more athleticism than I was giving him credit for. I'd be happy if White gave us 14/8/4.

He's nowhere close to larry johnson athletically. He's a ok athlete, but at his size you need to be a great athlete. I didn't see white get a rebound. In traffic and go straight back up and dunk the ball. Hell carl landry and brandon bass types did that a lot and they're not as good athletically as lj. If lj was in this draft,he wouldn't go in the teens,he would be a top 2 or 3 pick. He would probably be the #1 pick in all honesty.

Yeah, because Larry Johnson is a much more complete player that can shoot better than 50% from the foul line and subsequently can shoot jumpers from the floor as well. Larry Johnson shot 82% from the free throw line his senior year at UNLV. I would venture to guess if Royce White was shooting 82% from the line, he would be a top 5 pick. He would in turn be better at the elbow jumper, and all of the other types of shots that would come along with being able to shoot that well at the free throw line.

A little perspective: Larry Johnson averaged 22 points a game while shooting 66% from the field before coming to the NBA. The guy was flat out dominating college competition. There is a reason why he was the #1 pick in the draft rather than a mid-to-late first round prospect like Royce White.

Johnson lived up to the hype until his back started giving out. He was a shell of his former self by the time he was playing for the Knicks.

But JVG would still run plays through Johnson in the low post, because even with a bad back and virtually no mobility, he was still the Knicks' best post option.

Things I like about Royce white:

    7 foot wingspan
    9.3 rebounds per 31 minutes
Best handles I've seen on a big man

If he improves his FG shooting, especially from long range, he'll be able to play the 3 and the 4. I think white's strength is his versatility.

I'm not trying to say he's Lebron, but you can u se him that way; running your offense through him because he's such a good distributor.

White would be a good consolation prize at 14. Obviously, I'm hoping for a bigger splash though.

So what is all the hoopla about a 6'8" PF who is a defensive liability and does not have a jump shot? Not to mention off court issues. Passing? You are joking of course.

He can play SF, He is a bit undersized height-wise for a power forward, but he has a nice 7-foot wingspan and a 260-pound frame that packs a lot of punch. Plus, most power forwards don’t have White’s all-around game. He is an excellent ball handler too.

Sounds like a great way to pick 14 next year, aren't we pretty set at SF with Parsons? And we have enough undersized 4s.

Outside of jump shooting, he can do things that Marcus Morris can't.

Bad pick because look at how long it toook marcus morris to develop. This guy has as much potential as marcus morris but with the addition of anxiety and without a midrange jumper. You know how much flying is needed in the nba? And if he is scared of flying it will exhaust him during game time and he will be a complete wreck.

If you actually say Royce White play at Iowa St. last year you would have for sure of thought he would have been a lottery pick. Unlike Morris, he is a good ball handler and passer. I'm not just saying he's one of those ''good passers'' bigs get labeled when they are able to pass out of a double team. He has the ability to grab a board, lead a break and score/find a teammate. He is a triple double threat every night, in college he was a poor mans LeBron James.
