For Royce WHite? Best: He is waived and his writing career takes off Worst: He is waived and his writing career does not take off
Best case scenario is that the commissioner declares Royce White mentally unfit to play for the NBA and reimburses the Rockets with the 31st pick of the 2014 NBA draft.
It would have been awesome to see Royce making some beautiful passes to Dwight... Best case is he makes the team. Worst case he gets cut.
best - the rockets use his expiring contract as part of a trade to get a good player worst - they pay him next season and then part ways when his contract expires when the Rockets do not pick up the team's option. Forget about him playing any games for the Rockets. He burned too many bridges.
Seriously, taking a law course right now and am pretty sure that Rockets can get him for breach of contract.
Best: He turns up to training camp with a good attitude and McHale give him an opportunity to earn a spot in the rotation Worst: He continues to cause trouble leading to being waived/dumped or having his contract voided. In my opinion, Morey has done plenty to try and appease Royce because he sees that he has some value to the team and because the organisation is/wants to be good with personnel. Apart from the 1.7 mil he will eat up of the salary cap, I think he should be given another season to prove himself. The risk/reward is pretty low/high and seems like a good business move. I think one of the best things a franchise can do is be great at player development. If you can bring in a player with potential and help them realize their potential you will always have good players and those players will be in demand - meaning you will always have tradeable assets AND/OR players playing on good on rookie scale contracts or minimum deals (Parsons/Beverley).
Royce is done here in Houston. He wasted a whole season. He was babied, cajoled, given special privileges, etc. over and over again, to get him to start his career and work his way up the ladder. He refused to participate, refused to be a true team player and continued his egocentric narcissistic persona all the way to the end, refusing to be a team guy at RGV after refusing to be a team guy in Houston. He's done here. Best case scenario we trade him for a future second round pick without taking back any salary or sending out any cash with him. Worst case scenario we have to eat his $1.7 million salary for next season because we cannot find out a way to move him out because nobody else wants to touch him.
Best Case Scenario: Fathers a couple more children to some skanky baby mamas. Worst Case Scenario: Penis falls off due to a venereal disease.
In addition to not being used to the pace of NBA basketball, he has no work ethic and passion for basketball. My hopes aren't very high for him, so the best case is he discovers his passion for basketball and becomes a rotational NBA player. Worst case is he stays on the team as deadweight until he's waived.
