People miss Alpi’s mistakes. The proof is in the details and it’s all on film. In that first half 3 plays stood out. -Jovic shot a 3 missed. Bam fronted/boxed out Alpi for position. Alpi was lethargic not commiting to contact with Bam. Bam got out of the fronting/box position then as Alpi tried to make contact with him he did a swim maneuver to get loose and grab the off board then Smith had to foul him as he was about to score. Jovic was in the post. Alpi covered weak side corner. But went to double likely without communication to Smith on the wing. It was also a soft double. Again not committing fully. The corner was wide open and Jovic passed there for a 3 from Highsmith. Rozier had a simple wing screen. Alpi didn’t move at all allowing Rozier to drive on him and score an easy bucket. There were more but these stood out to me and these add up. Yes other players made mistakes as well but that Center position is so critical especially on screens and when opponents drive to the paint. Have to just be better.
Sengun needs to step up his hair game if he wants to get some respect from Royal.... Its time he got braids like Jeremy Lin....
Not sure what Ivey’s NBA playing career has to do with coaching. Some of the best coaches never even made it to the NBA level. You don’t have to be a great player to be a great coach. You just have to understand plays, analyze gameplay, and be able to think on your feet while building relationships with players. Spoelstra never played in the NBA. Popovich never did. Thibs didn’t. Kerr was no All star or even starter. Dozens more. Lol
Nobody is perfect, everyone makes mistakes. But Sengun had 18/18 and scored over 50%, on defense he held Bam to 4/12. If you're gonna blame people he should be among the last ones to blame. I really hate it when people blame the best performers like y'all are just so dumb.
Vanessa dont wanna even ask about those 2 I wonder what Ivey would say when asked about Green vs Herro matchup after the game
Maybe she should ask deeper questions like: “Do you think the offensive sets this team runs facilitate or create a lot of opportunities for its guards to score or drive to the paint?” That would be an intriguing scenario.
Details. Bam made fewer mistakes and more aggressive. Winning mindset is minimizing mistakes and the proof is in the details with Sengun. Too many mistakes
Sengun wasn’t the only one guarding him and vice versa. I was talking about defense and intensity as a whole. Bam simply played better on that end with few mistakes. He didn’t make mistakes on offense either. Just missed shots
Sengun himself literally asked for this, to be criticized more and coached harder. You can hear him say it in his interviews. Also Sengun had himself said previously in interviews that in Europe, his coaches would scream at him and berate him constantly and that's how he got to where he is today. Silas refused to do this since he was not a confrontational person. Now our coaches are constantly putting high expectations on Sengun and his player-only fans are angry. These "hardcore" fans should watch the movie, Whiplash, to understand how greatness is achieved.
Reality is that Alpi is a good player….will someday be an all-star and a great player when he learns how to make and not miss clutch free throws and how to pass the ball out to the wide open three when triple teamed. Part of the reason Reed lost his confidence and no longer shoots well is because I have never ever ever seen Sengun pop the ball back out to him when triple teamed. He either forces up an awkward shot or looks for a cutter. Would be interesting to see what would happen if he tossed out to what was supposed to be our sharpshooting 3 point ace.
Silas did call Sengun out to the media that many people on this site called bullying, racist, and unfair. Keeping Sengun accountable is regarded as targeting and racism on this site apparently
yeah, that’s a BS comment reminds me of 2003, when RudyT got sick and Mr Mean (Larry Smith) took over, he was harping on Yao like this. These are BS calls, both Yao and Sengun are/were good combos of skill and toughness. Race stereotyping may be a part of it, some black coaches just assume that non-black athletes are sissies…
The team is -3 with Jalen on the floor and Sengun off the floor, over 500 possessions this season. +19 with Sengun on the floor and Jalen off the floor. Are you blaming Sengun for clogging the paint while he is on the bench?
Am surprised we're giving so much oxygen on a non-issue. People stirring up drama where there aren't none. Embrace the good vibes, no need to go back to the Silas era, where there were so much turmoil.
if Alpi misses gimmes its his responsibility to fix it if jabari misses threes its his responsibility fo fix it if amen misses threes its his responsibility to fix it but jalen's woes its everyone's else resposibility to fix it from front office to coach to system to alpi to teammates to refs to homecourt to having to play defense
