Nobody said we all have to agree with each other. Think about how boring this place would be if we all just agreed.

I think that's a pretty narrow view of what 'modernity' is. Bringing the country into the 20th century with infrastructure, education, and technology is certainly part of 'modernity,' as is bringing women into the forefront of the political and social spheres.

I am going to have to come to Hayes' defense, Call him bitter, but lay off that old man stuff. I think it is highly inappropriate to discriminate or sterotype on the basis of age. It fact in some cases it can be illegal under state and federal statutes. That does it. If this bbs does not shape up, I am going to have to hold my breath till I receive an apology from at least 5 posters. Oh I don't consider it a negative that we may disagree more often than agree. Just explaining that the basis for my growing respect for your opinion is based on something other than similar opinions.

Oh, I will admit that I am highly selective, since my primary interest is international relations, and the Middle East region in particular. Judging by the threads I like to start, I am probably anti-Russia, anti-Egypt, anti-Saudi, anti-Turkey, anti-Venezuela, anti-Mexico, and anti-Israel.
