I heard that actually on some radio talk show. Get this, Miami isnt worried a bit because the next guy on their depth chart at RB is Walter Payton's kid
dude, we must have been listening to the same show at the same time, because I heard that exact same thing while driving and nearly swirved off the road. Miami's depth is sick.
gore's the next great 'cane back, if he can get (stay) healthy; would've been the starter this year ahead of mcgahee but blew out his knee.
i think i've called you on this previously; i know i called someone on it -- i'd like to see a source. all i've ever read rogers say about the heisman has been extremely contrite -- he thinks LJ deserves it. and ya know what? maybe he did grumble about it -- so what? hasn't williams complained after losses about playcalling? these guys are 20, 21-years old -- no one's expecting them to be dripping wet with maturity. selfish, petty complaints, especially those uttered by a great player on a lousy team, are not warning flags in terms of character.
Anyone know approximately where Bernard Berrian will fall? I know he is one of the better receivers, but maybe he could drop to the 2nd round. That would be a great pickup there.
Great call, rezdawg! Could be a great option at WR if the Texans don't\can't draft a Rogers or Williams early. I like Lloyd from Illinois, too.
Payton is currently the 3rd back on the depth chart. The only thing he has in common with his dad (besides playing tailback) is his last name. He's really not that great of a RB. As for McGahee declaring ... McGahee is a 3rd year sophmore which means that if he wanted to declare he could. I personally think he should declare. Most of the current team will be gone next year, and McGahee has put up outstanding numbers this year. Right now he's a definate top 10 pick. If he stayed another year he would be risking millions of dollars in signing bonus. With the amount of turnover the Canes will have there is no guarentee that he will have as good a year next year as he did this year.
What 10 players do you think will be taken before Roy? I'll give you Leftwich, Rogers, McGahee, Palmer, L. Johnson, OT from Utah, ... who else?
http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/pages/releases/2002_03/007/121302_20.html Looks like Roy Williams is not coming out this year. 12/13/02 Longhorns honored during annual awards banquet ยป 2002 Texas Football Award Banquet winners (.pdf) AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas football team had its annual awards banquet on Friday night at the Frank Erwin Center and the Longhorns honored this season's most outstanding individuals for their contributions on the football field, academically and within the Austin community. Possibily the biggest announcement of the night occurred when junior WR Roy Williams declared his intentions to return to UT for his senior season. Headlining this year's winners were the Longhorns' two senior leaders ? QB Chris Simms and DE Cory Redding. Simms was tabbed the George "Hook" McCullough Most Valuable Player, Darrell K Royal Most Valuable Offensive Player and Outstanding Quarterback, while Redding was named the Mike Campbell Most Valuable Defensive Player and Outstanding Defensive End. The two also were named permanent team captains (as selected by their teammates). Senior Beau Trahan was named the Frank Denius Special Teams Most Valuable Player for the third consecutive year, sharing the award with fellow senior Michael Ungar. On offense, Williams shared Most Valuable Offensive Player honors with Simms and was named the team's Outstanding Wide Receiver, along with junior wideout B.J. Johnson, for the third straight year. Sophomore RB Cedric Benson was tabbed Outstanding Offensive Back for the second year in a row and All-American OL Derrick Dockery shared Outstanding Offensive Lineman honors with senior OT Robbie Doane. Junior TE Brock Edwards was named Outstanding Tight End, while junior OG Tillman Holloway was selected as the team's Most Consistent Offensive Player. Defensively, junior DT Marcus Tubbs was selected as the team's Outstanding Defensive Lineman and sophomore LB Derrick Johnson was chosen as the Longhorns' Outstanding Linebacker. Senior CB Rod Babers and junior CB Nathan Vasher both were honored as the Outstanding Defensive Backs and junior FS Dakarai Pearson was named Most Consistent Defensive Player. Doane was named the Lan Hewlett Academic Award winner for the second year in a row and senior LB Lee Jackson earned the team's Coca-Cola Community Service Award for their work off the field. Jackson earned that award as a sophomore as well.
I'm glad Roy is staying for his senior year. I want to see what he's capable of with Vincent Young on the field.
at this point, i don't think LJ would go ahead of williams, mcgahee might not, either, but i think william joseph would, jimmy kennedy would, possibly vince wilfolk would, maybe terrence newman... but it's sooooooo early in the process; at this point last year, no one thought david carr would go #1. that's why nothing's a lock at this stage.
You won't see that, unless they play in the nfl together. Mack will go with the "safe pick"' and start Chance Mock.
