Hopefully when he retires he decides to wear a Houston hat. Good luck to you Roy, you were fun to watch. One of the best Astros of all time.
Favorite Astro of all time. Him winning Game 6 of the NLCS is my favorite Roy-O moment... It's definitely bittersweet. I really wanted to catch one more game with him pitching. Guess that's not happening anymore Nearing the end of a great era of Astros baseball...
I believe that Roy wanted what was best for both parties throughout the process. He knew it was best for him and the Astros to go this route. There were a lot of jabs being thrown at him over the last couple of months by the media and even some fans that I think were unwarranted, esp. since you rarely can get the straight facts in these situations. Roy is one of the good guys in a sport filled with all too many drug users and douchebags and I felt that he deserved more of a benefit of the doubt with some of these rumors. Having said that, I really want the Phillies to win the WS depending on what happens with Berkman. If Puma gets traded to, I'll be pulling for either of those teams with the Astros and Indians not in contention.
Completely embarrassing Pujols in the NLCS: Priceless. By all accounts he was a class act, worked his ass off, and was tough as nails. Should have earned at least one CY Young during his tenure here, but oh well. Go get your ring Wizard... ...no more O's Bros and possibly Little Pumas in the stands after this season.
He's in a better place, as in a contending team. I would have loved to see him win a ring here, but it's not like he wanted to leave, he just knew the organization wanted to rebuild and he knew that if he were among trade talks that it would get the Astros prospects that they needed. Thanks Roy, you will be missed, if the Phillies make it to the World Series, then hopefully you taste that champagne.
Striking out Pujols and owning game 6 was great, but who can forget when he completely dominated the Reds. 15-0 to start, 23-1 prior to this year. And I love how he pitches. Quick release, underrated fastball, excellent control, that hammer of a curveball. Lucky for me, I don't hate the Phillies (not as much as certain other teams anyways).
Mixed feelings for me. He was a hell of a pitcher for us, nails really, but his diva act the last year and a half with Cooper and now this trade stuff has been disappointing.
Happy Trails, Roy. Thanks for bailing out Lidge and demolishing the Cards in game 6 in '05 to give the city what will likely be the franchise's only WS appearance in any of our lifetimes.
Roy was the man.... My friends and I all called him CY Oswalt and I even had a jersey made with that on the back in 2005... He will be missed
I would have loved to see Oswalt retire an Astro but this is the best move for him and his team. I was really hoping he would be traded to the Twins so I could see him pitch here in MN but best of luck to him in Philly. Its going to be weird seeing him wearing something besides Astro's maroon.
Roy will always be an all time favorite Stro. It's too bad that the organization fell so far that the best move for them was to trade such a great player. He will be missed. I just hope towards the end of his career he can finish with us and get those needed victories to be the all time leader in Astros wins.
