Without a doubt I would choose Penny, but if he were still alive I would guess that Drazen Petrovic would have been a legend in the game.
Yeah. He's a good one. I know Bias would've been great, but he never played an NBA game. These other guys showed how close they were to the pantheon in their careers. You just reminded me of Arvydas Sabonis.
Grant Hill had the perfect attitude to be a great player. Can't imagine how good he could have been if he had an off season to actually work on his game rather than rehab. I think it speaks to how good he was just for the fact he could come back and be a starter on phoenix. Probably could have been top 10 small forward all time. Also the league would have looked much different with a health Grant and T-mac in Orlando. Maybe they even get out of the first round..
Both Hill and Penny way ahead of Roy. I'd put Antonio Mcdyess before Roy as well. Averaged 20 pts, 12 reb, 1.5 blks, 50 fg%, before injury.
Grant hill got paid 93 mil in orlando to rest his ankle and bring his winning smile. His best year, his 6th season he averaged 26 7 and 6. Next Jordan, I doubt it, but he is easily the best on this list.
I voted Hill. All around game was sick, could do it all. Penny, point guard with size that could fill it up as well. Often compared to Magic early on, not fair or accurate IMO but, still... Roy, as clutch as they came, never shied away from big moments in a game, could put the team on his back. Maybe not the skillset that the others possessed but had the IT factor.
Yea I have the same feeling. Orden with his limited minutes, was still doing really good. I myself voted for Penny. I was actually talking about this guy at work with a coworker. Both us said "what happened to penny hardaway" He was suppose to be the next Jordan. But man I'm hoping grant hill gets a ring some day.
orlando's all time team is pretty incredible (if they could all be healthy). Penny McGrady Hill (Insert anyone because the rest would do more than enough to pick up the slack) Shaq
Bingo. He had that drive, that confidence that he could put the team on his back and push through anything. I think his last couple of injury-ridden years have left him a little bit underrated.
Exactly I would even put Ralph Sampson among others ahead of Brandon Roy. Here are just a few I can think of off the top of my head. Clearly the order is up for debate but this would be my top 10 list unless I am forgetting someone. 1. Hill 2. Penny 3. B. King 4. S. Kemp* 5. Sampson 6. Yao 7. Walton 8. Arenas 9. Roy 10a. Oden 10b. McDyess *Not injuries but drug and weight issues cut his career short. He was amazing to watch.
ohhh the memories. The league was a mans league back then, there was no crying in basketball, blood was common, and every now and then a hockey fight broke out.
Maybe if he would have played consistently on the defensive end like we all know he could. If he wanted to he could play the best lock down defense. T-mac was too lazy though and took plays off so therefore he is banished from my list for lack of heart. And yes, it is all his fault.
