I understand the 1 yr part, but that is all he could get? Roy was exposed a couple of years ago, but he is a formidable center imo. At least one idiot could overpay him in today's NBA...
No one with significant cap room needs a big. This is partly why we've seen a flurry of short-term deals since Durant committed.

Calculated move by Roy to get one more massive contract so he can put it in coast mode. Fantastic C when motivated, which is almost never.
It's the stink of the Lakers under Byron Scott. Jeremy Lin, too, had to take a small contract to prove his value after a year playing for Scott. Being a contributor to an actually competitive team should help one's market value.
GSW were looking for a C but I understand they went for Pachulia instead. Roy has fallen quite a bit it would seem.
