Is it even possible, that Lucas and Graham were waived as they wanted to look at them but not for a contract to the end of the year? Perhaps they will be brought back for a series of ten day contracts until they can make up their minds. I doubt that clearing up roster slots will facilitate trades unless we are trading one of our largest contracts. Wesley's expiring contract for cheaper role players for example. I doubt we would trade Howard or another large contract in the same way. Another possiblity is that we might go after a D-League player like Papa Sow or Dwayne Jones, both of whom are doing well at the lower level and whose management has little or no immediate interest in them. However, I don't see how that relates to the opening up of roster slots unless we are offering draft picks.
I thought Dwayne signed a guaranteed contract with Minny? Anyway, the level of childish, silly and over-the-top I have seen in this thread and the board in general lately has been both sad and astonishing. I am disapointed in the Rox fans who just overreact without getting as much information as possible. Oh well.....
Well excuse me Mr. Holier-than-thou, but the way this season is going, I don't see anything wrong with speculating on what moves management is going to make to turn our season around. We had a nice win against the Wizards, but we're still in a deep, deep hole and need all the help we can get. So you'll forgive those of us that are grabbing onto any scrap of info that shows that the front office isn't just sitting on it's hands, and hoping things will work out. With the way we've been dropping games, and the pathetic offensive performances we've been putting out (minus the Wizards game, thank God), there's not much else worth discussing.
i liked lucas. he looked tiny but very energized. poor guy. i feel bad when they cut players like that. haha. if it was my rules i think we would ahve like 30 people on the roster.
Man i rarely post stuff on here, so when I do post stuff, its because its a reliable source. Just because stuff didnt go through that I mentioned before, it doesnt neccessarly mean it wasnt considered by the Rockets. I work at a place where alot of Rocket Execs spent time, as well as players. Theres so much stuff I hear, but I dont run and post stuff randomly on here. Like I always say at the end of my posts, take it however u want it...
Does the thought ever pass your mind that the Rocket's management doesn't have it together. If they couldn't afford Lucas, why did they sign him to start with? Don't they have accountants? Don't they know the NBA rules? Maybe they should hire Gator.
Agreed, I worked out at Westside several years ago and you'll hear stuff, but for one reason or another it doesn't work out. Because it doesn't actually happen does not mean it was not discussed.
not to be rude, but this is ridiculous. We could afford him, when we needed him. When our backcourt was thin and depleted we paid for them. Now that we are getting healthy, the Rockets are in a position to be able to cut him and not have to pay him if he doesn't pan out. On Tuesday, they'll bring him back on a 10 day and if he plays well, he'll get another 10 day. That is a smart business decision. Don't pay for something if you can't use it.
Now why didn't any of the basketball geniuses on this website know that their contracts would become guaranteed and that was the reason they were let go. ROCKETS SUMMARY Lucas, Davis released Less than a week and two games after the Rockets brought in John Lucas III to bolster their injured backcourt, they released him and forward Josh Davis on Wednesday, a day before the contracts of players on NBA rosters become guaranteed. Unless they are picked up by another team, the Rockets could bring back either with a 10-day contract beginning on Tuesday. With a league exception that allows them to have 16 players on the roster, the Rockets will have to cut a player to return to the usual maximum of 15 when Jon Barry comes back from his calf injury, likely on Friday. "We were happy with both of them," Rockets general manager Carroll Dawson said. "They did a good job." Asked if he planned to bring either player back when 10-day contracts are permitted, Dawson said, "I don't know yet. We'll see how things go."

No, they don't. This looks to be more of the same old, same old stuff we've been seeing for the past 10 years now. I've resigned myself to the fact that nothing here will ever change until they get some new management in here. Unfortunately, that may also require new ownership as well.
