I was thinking the exact same thing that Clutch said. If there were a trade, why wouldn't we just announce the waived players at the time of the trade?

would JL3 still have taken a roster spot if we sent him to NBDL?

i feel something with the roster is obviously taking place cause they are not that foolish. Something prolly fore the weekend is up.

Lucas has been playing ahead of Moochie. So if they're going to cut someone, why not cut Moochie, who is on the last year of his contract anyway. Doesn't make much sense to me, unless they intend to trade Moochie, which I'm sure they already would have done if they could.

This sucks!! JL3 did give the Rockets the quickness needed at the point. I hope he does get a chance to come back. I don't think a trade is in the works and JB better be 100% ready. I thought he was not going to be ready till Friday??

Teams may begain to sign players to 10 day contracts starting tomorrow. I am pretty sure JL3 will be resigned tomorrow.

YO', UP YOURS DAWSON, YOU SUCK. I'm so mad right now,   , it's a pain in the behind to have you as our GM.

You had one ONE good year last year where you actually helped us with some good additions, everything else in your career was easy decisions when it came to aquiring good players.

Not to mention that your draft picks SUCK, Where is Manu??? Oh thats right you chose Boki over him just because he finished higher in the euro league while manu finished second (when all you had to do was watch game footage to see which one would help the rockets more)

Wheres Jefferson.. oh yeh Eddie Griffin

Wheres the Rockets 3rd championship.. oh yeh, we won twice so you traded half the team

I can go on and on and on and on, yes you have made a FEW good additions... but any blind man could have made those since they were so obvious decisons. and I don't care how many words I mispell,m just let me rant and blow my fumes. Dawson, what kind of man is named Carrol? Come on now.. maybe you SHOULD be in the wnba, alright so maybe that was a low blow but I am real pizzed at the moment.

Losing Lucas will hurt, JVG let the man come into the game in the 1st quarter, T-Mac was smiling on the bench because they were producing

The combo of Alston, Lucas, and Head was nasty(in a good way), the man ran like lightning~he hustled like ryan bowen, he gave it his all... alot more then I can say for half of the guys on our team.

Give him some chances, just like the Rockets have given you some chances... just the Rockets have given you too many chances...

What if he don't trade for somone we can really use, this will then be forgotten.

Maybe the Rox did it on purpose to get this board in an uproar and hopes up...haha...j/k :D

I am also puzzled by this move but it is probably to bring DA and Jon B back on the active list. I doubt we are getting artest or bibby although it would be nice.

I feel bad for JLIII b/c he seems like a good dude. It must hurt bad to be able to play for your hometown team which you grew up being a ball boy for and then to get cut the day after you play pretty well. Hopefully they will bring him back later on if no one else gets him.

You don't have to waive players to bring some on the active list. Waiving two players means we are making room for 2 other player not on the roster. No other logical reason to waive them.

I dont think it's for active list.

You can only cut Davis and keep JL3.

Even DA and Barry come back, we can always have a spot for JL3.

    TMac/Deke/Swift/Howard/Alston/Wesley/Head/DA/Barry/Bowen/JL3/Baxter or Moochie

The Rox got swept by the sonics the year after winning back-2-back titles and had trouble beating George Karl's illegal defense schemes on Dream so we needed another post player to draw double teams. They had to improve to compete and acquiring CB got us to within 2 wins of the finals again.

Quick question and need some clarification...wouldnt they be able to just send him back down to the D-league until he's needed again? I think this move has other motives that we're not seeing. Mabye after Jan 10 they'll resign him, knowing there is no one else to get. Only one can hope, cause i watched Lucas play at Baylor and have always been a fan of his.

There has to be a trade going down and it has to be a multi-player deal with us taking out somebody else's trash. Something like a 2 for 3 or 3 for 4 player deal, with us sending out our expirings and taking back bad contracts for some premier player or something. Then we are going to cut 1 or 2 guys and bring back John Lucas III.

This takes me back to Doc Rockets famous (or infamous, depending on how you look at it) post where he was referring to legal jargon, etc. etc. That must be referring to petitioning the league for a 16th roster spot and filling that spot, so that we can keep it open for players coming in. Biting the bullet is taking on somebody's bad contracts in order to bring somebody in here to help Yao and TMac.

Why else would you petition the league for a 16th slot, fill the slot, then drop guys and be setting at 14 players other than to create room to bring in players through a trade? Now if JL3 had stunk it up last night, I may feel differently. But he didn't and his speed and quickness was a definite upgrade over what we have been watching the past several weeks.

Not only this, but we haven't heard peep out of the players yet. If there wasn't some sort of arrangement to bring them back, I would think we would have heard from them or would hear from them in the very short term about their short short stints with the club.

The Rockets have permission from the league to carry an extra person on their roster due to their injuries right? These 2 guys are still being paid, until their 10 days pass. The only reason to waive them would be to replace them with someone new. The injured guys are on the roster, so it cannot be because of their return from injury. That could possibly account for one of them (Davis) if the league stopped allowing the extra roster spot. Because they were on the team for such a short time, i cannot imagine any new free agent appearing on the market that would cause this move, only an impending trade makes sense to me, A trade in which we take on more players than we give up. That worries me.

We have 14 players on the roster now.

So there are only 2 possibilities:

    1. sign a free agent to take the 15th spot. That means we wont bring JL3 back.

    2. do a trade like 1for2 or 2for3 etc

Well, with Rafer already back, and Jon Barry apparently due back very soon, that exception may be running out. That could be reason for waiving one, but two, I'm not sure.

Only reason I can think of for the move is Jon Barry's return would preclude JL3 from getting any minutes in the backcourt, so we waived him to give him the chance to latch on somewhere else? Very strange indeed.
