I believe you can trade him within that time if he's traded alone...not in a package with any of your other players.

Snow would have been nice. But I dont think he is worth MoT or Howard. Either one of those two could be All-star Big Men in the weak, depleted, East.

I hate to ruin the Snow bashing session, but MO-T for Snow would have worked out well for us. Believe it or not, Snow is a good point guard.

I hope you enjoy Tyrone Lue as your starting PG then.

With Yao and TMac do we need a good pg? Fisher got a good contract this off-season, but we all know he is average, his passing is ok, and he can knock down the open jumper. Who was MJ's point gaurd? Who was Cylde and Dream's great PG?

Oh I DID see him play at Washington, Dallas, Denver & Orlando. And you're right - he can play...a little. I'm just not a fan of his. He's OK but not what I'd call a real upgrade over Mo Taylor at the 4 especially playing in the West.

Snow would have been a perfect fit here but for $30 million? No thanks. DFish gets $30+ million. Even NVE bad knees and all is making over $30 million! Who is giving out all of these contracts and where can I find him? :p

I hate to prick that balloon, but if you're trading Howard's 6 mill for Snow's 6 mill, I doubt money is the factor.

Besides, rule of thumb is don't trade big for small. Also, I happen to like knowing we have a PF that will average more than 3 to 5 rebounds/game.

Sorry, but that's about as positive as I can get over an average player...

You're right lets give up a serviceable big man for 30yr old pg whos only contributions would be ball handling and defense. The guy has no outside shot NONE, is only getting older and is just going to get beat up over here in the west, not to mention his contract. I would rather wait until next year's FA then to take on snow. We have already said no to Bbarry and Dfish.... don't take on Snow!

That's the rule: You never trade BIG for SMALL (someone please explain this to Mark Cuban...in crayon!). I suspect that there is a bit of fallout from the Gary Payton episode at work here. Teams may now be very wary about paying over 30's PGs bigtime bucks on a long term contract because you can never tell when they'll lose it and then you're stuck with that albatross of a contract.

While the salaries are similar, all that trade would have done was to plug the hole at PG at the expense of further weakening an already weak PF position.

I'm surprised the Rockets were willing to deal Taylor for Snow, but unwilling to deal Howard for Snow. CD has said publicly that he doesn't want any contracts for longer than 2 or 3 years because he wants flexibility. Yet he's unwilling to trade Howard's 5 year contract, and wants to add on Snow's 5 year deal. These are both 31 year old players on the downside of their careers that will gradually be paid more and more the next five years.

I probably wouldn't have traded either Taylor or Howard for Snow, but if I had to choose which guy I'd rather get rid of it would have been Howard.

We don't need a good PG but we atleast need a average one. I would have gladly traded away one of our soft PF's bloated contracts for a player like Snow who fits JVG's style of play.
