If we lose out on Daniels, Mike James, and Damon Jones...

THEN I would be ok with adding for NOT A CENT more than the BARE MINIMUM we can offer him.

I wouldn't give him major minutes either, I would allow Gaines to develop slowly and by midseason hand his minutes over to Gaines.

I hope we won't be getting Ollie or Snow by trade.

Why did you conveniently only use Ward's stats with the Knicks? Because the Knicks run an inside-out offense like the Rox and SA doesn't? Do we need to be reminded that the 9 & 5 were the highest in Ward's entire career? Are we positive PG A will only get the minimum? And is it worth noting that the minimum is $1.6m and for an additional 800k (half the MLE), we might be able to get Damon Jones or Mike James?

Charlie Ward's best years are well behind him. I'm one who believes in trends. Do yourself a favor and compare the Efficiency Rating trends of Lue and Mike James to Ward's.

He did for an absolute fact.

Mike James is no spring chicken himself. He's 29.

the clarence weatherspoon trade was sheer brilliance. we dumped a scrub PG w/ a huge contract for a decent backup big man w/ a huge contract. if your going to pay big bucks it might as well be for size. i thought the spoon exceeded all expectations last year.

mark jackson was definately an upgrade over moochie.

oakley is a headcase and lasted longer than i thought he would.

I'm going to go ahead and swim upstream. I like a Ward signing, assuming it's for a small contract. I have zero faith in Lue, and believe a smart PG can help this team out a ton. How many people were gouging out their eyes when Mark Jackson signed? Can anyone say he didn't do a great job with his role?

Give Ward a chance. He's never been a big numbers guy, but he's always been consistent and solid.

Dude, you must be some sort of fantasy basketball star.

    Uh, no. You don't.

Also... lots of fun at bar mitzvahs.

From the reactions here, it sounds like we're getting Moochie back. He's a low impact player that will probably be signed to a 1or 2 year deal for cheap. I don't really see how signing him would be a plus or a minus.

The preference is a godd serviceable PG that can start 30 minutes a game. Backup with Lue and Gaines. If that somehow doesn't pan out, then signing Ward to league minimum would be OK if for nothing more than to have a veteran presence at PG. But in that case, Ward should only be a backup to Lue and compete for 2nd string with Gaines. I'd rather take my chances with younger talent and let them develop.

I wouldn't mind getting Ward. If anything we need to realize that this team doesn't need to have guys that put up great offensive numbers at the point position. Tmac and Yao will have the ball most of the time.
I'm not sure where all this negativity came from against CWard but just because he was in Greg Poppatrick's dog house doesn't mean he can't still be effective for someone else. You poeple should be happy we are not jumping into any deals like we usually do. We have to think long term now. We are building the Mac and Ming dynasty. As this season goes on we will determine who is working and who isn't. Damn this season needs to start already!

If I remembered correctly didn't Ward beat up on Kobe 2 yrs ago? Hey I think we could use a little bit of that if Kobe dunk on Yao again...:D .

j/k. Seriously, think we need to sign that dude from detroit not a bench warmer Ward.
