Please lock if already posted. Maybe Kroenke will decide to trade him to the Rockets, who have Yao Ming's expiring and insurance-paid contract to go along with two trade chips the Knicks gave them 11 months ago -- second-year forward Jordan Hill and the Knicks' unprotected 2012 draft pick. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/columns/story?columnist=sheridan_chris&id=6039161
Already been posted. We aren't in the running for anything other than a rental. Melo wants NY and that is the only place he will sign an extension. If he's in Houston, it won't be for any longer than a few games. Waste of time and resources, b/c we have absolutely no shot to resign him
to only give up yao, hill and a worthless draft pick... i would do that in a heart beat. only if it was for half a season. imagine the positive influence our locker room and coaching staff (and fans) would have on melo. he might decide to stay. i am not the biggest melo fan. but just thinking about... pg - lowry/brooks sg - martin/lee/williams sf - melo/shane/bud pf - scola/patterson c - hayes/miller i love that team. yes we are still small but wow.
But everyone on Clutchfans keeps saying how all we need is a superstar to be a Championship contender. Getting Melo, even for 40% of a season would accomplish that, and should give the Rockets a chance to win it all this year. Shouldn't it?
This week is really gonna be frustrating with all these rumors. Sigh ..whatever happens I hope it doesn't bite us in the a** in the end, in Morey I trust!
I would be shocked if the Rockets could get Melo for that little. I think Denver would go back to New Jersey and beg for the deal that was proposed. I also think Prokhorov is in total control of this deal now. Prokhorov knows the Nets deal is more than fair and he's not giving up more than offered. Don't be surprised if the Nets deal gets done.
It won't happen if Melo anwers with a nyet of his own. He might already have. Right now Melo is clearly the Knicks to lose.
And there's still enough assets to pull of a trade for Chris Paul, convincing Melo to stay. Brooks, Scola, Lee, expiring and cash.
