I went to Yankee Stadium wearing an Astros cap during a game between the Stros and the Yanks and I didn't catch grief from supposedly some of the most rabid fans in the country. Stay classy, Rocket fans.
If they didn't use any profanity, or throw anything at her, then some light hearted ribbing should be expected. I don't have a problem with that provided it was all in good fun coming from the Rowdies. Once she got defensive and lashed out in a profane manner, then I think it only asks for more of the same. The Toyota Center is fun, and if this uptight Laker's fan can't take some good natured ribbing from Clutch, then I think it serves her right to have more good natured ribbing heaped on to her by others. If the ribbing crossed over to something personal, or mean spirited then I don't support it at all.
"So we layed into her ...HARD! For probably 5 minutes solid we chanted all sorts of stuff at her like "SORE LOSSER" and whatnot." Light hearted ribbing would be about the team she supports not comments about the woman herself.
oh walk it off. its a sporting venue. the fun of going into an opposing teams stadium wearing your team's jersey includes this.
she layed into Clutch....HARD! she had it coming. basketball crowds are rowdier than baseball crowds; even the yankee crowds. so that's not a fair comparison. i wouldn't expect anything less than getting hassled for wearing an opposing teams jersey to game. that's life. anyone that expects anything different should move to california with all the other leftists.
Maybe I am not remembering correctly, but I thought they didn't start that until after she flipped them the bird. I agree that it should have been relegated to the Lakers, though after she shot the bird, then I don't see a problem kicking the pressure up a notch. I am the border line being alright with kicking it up a notch as soon as she shot the bird to Clutch. She is a sore loser, can't take a joke, and seemed willing to take matters above and beyond the jovial ribbing on her own. I guess what I am saying is that if she is comfortable engaging in profane gestures and getting into it with people then I don't see the problem with obliging her.
I do live in California and have been hasseled at Dodger games for Astros gear. It was all good natured and I took it as such. I didn't fliip anyone off, and enjoyed the banter. I wore Rockets gear to several Knicks games in MSG, and was engaged in some back and forth there too. Everytime nobody really got rubbed the wrong way. Everytime the Knicks fans, or Dodgers fans, or the Mets fans initiated it, and I responded always in a light hearted matter. It was never a problem, even in California
Yeah, I went to Dodgers stadium last summer for Dodgers/Astros, and I was looking forward to being hassled. They didn't disappoint either. Too bad we couldn't finish off the comeback, or I could have had the last laugh
What, are they all dating Clutch? They have to have his back or what? Maybe the woman didn't want silly string in her hair. let me get this straight.... Because of the clothing she wore, that gives the Rowdies the right to be total jackasses. Because a man in a bear suit sprays silly string all over this woman and she and the man in the bear suit have words over it. That also gives the Rowdies the right to be total jackasses to the woman. Because the woman responded to their silly taunts over something that was really none of their business, that somehow justifies what they did. Back up and think about it for a second. Civility doesn't fly out the window just because you got a stupid red wig on your head, a rockets jersey and you've been jumping up and down yelling for 3 hours at a game.
Clutch squirted silly string on her and she called for security. I've been to dozens upon dozens of games where Clutch has done the same and I've never seen that reaction. The woman was a miserable woman. If you take life as seriously as she does (and apprently you), then one day you'll be old and realize you never had any fun. Us Rowdies, we're having fun. Don't like? Oh well. You can't please everybody in life ...so why try? We get a bunch of compliments after each game including people sitting nearby this miserable woman that witnesses the whole things. Most importantly, the Rockets think we are great. If the Rockets ask us to stop ...we will. Until then, don't come to the Toyota center wearing a Kobe jersey and expect us to pat you on the back.
that might have been the game I was at. The Astros lost. Actually the Astros have lost every away game I've been too. They are playing the Angels in Anaheim this year, and I am going, so I hope to break the streak. I may try Dodger stadium again as well. It is a great place to watch a game. I will go even if it isn't the Astros they are playing.
Think about what you are defending. If she got silly string in her hair while in the Rockets stadium wearing an opponents jersey and didn't want it in her hair, it seems like the appropriate reaction might have been to frown. That is proportionate the offense given to her. Instead she became profane, and whined to security. She didn't only respond she escalated the matter by using profane gestures. In every case it seems that she over reacted in proportion to the offense directed at her, and did something far more offensive. If someone cheering for an opponent in the home stadium is ready to take things to a more offensive level, then kicking the banter up a notch(but still not as profane as the Laker's fan herself was) then I don't see a problem with it. I think joking around with an opposing fan doesn't mean civility flew out the window. If there was a moment when it flew out the window it was when she over-reacted, and responded with profane gestures, and whined to the authorities.
great stuff krosfyah. I know for a fact that y'all dont "offend" opponents' fans, u just mess with them and have fun. it's all part of the game. dont make a big thing out of it Skillz. btw, I have a question krosfyah; are u the guy Bryce featured on Rockets.com? just curious. and if not, have they interviewed u yet to get u on rockets.com as fan of he week or whatever that thing is? I know Andy Moon was featured about a month ago.
Exactly. The Red Rowdies were expressing their viewpoint in a place that was created for it. So lay off them.
that was him. he is always featured prominately in the clips of the Rowdies in the broadcast. codell, tell em. The Rowdies are the best thing to happen to The Toybox since it opened. Keep up the great work guys, we are all proud of yall. (except for No-Skillz)
We take special precaution not to touch anybody or use profanity. Most 'opposing' fans laugh at us, waive their jersey, yell something back at us or otherwise just banter back/forth. It's all good clean fun. If you think we are being too tough, go to the ballet.
