A little off topic but what ever happened to that little Asian kid that always took off his shirt and flexed? I've never seen one person get the crowd so hype then that little kid. He put Clutch to shame. He should be the red rowdies mascot.
Yea, I talked to the guy during preseason. That kid was his nephew and the kid's mother/father has some sort of issue so he couldn't keep bringing him. That kid was cool.
the baseline bums dont chant though, and they purchase their seats. most are all in their 50's and 60's. Didnt give us any trouble when we road trip there. and its a private organization from what I'm told. an average joe couldnt join or tryout. What dianap07 was talking about was their new version of the rowdies called the "Silver and Black Pack". lame name right? we saw audition information for it back in january for the Rockets Road tip at the AT&T center. they were basically forming their cheering section late in the season for i think the last 12 home games. But yes the baseline bums have been around for a while. I wouldn't say theyre like our rowdies. The Spurs definitely copied the Red Rowdies with the Silver & Black Pack.
I think there should be Two Rowdy sections. Maybe 1 close to each goal. or one behind the opposing teams bench.
I had no idea. I really don't think they need a section since most of the fans are crazy in love with there team. Makes me sad cause I never see that with people at the Rockets games unless we are winning. . But I'm glad the Rowdies are around, cause they lighten moments when we are down big. Always wanted to try out but I'm super shy until the playoffs when I paint my face. And for some reason every time I see you at the game, I always think of Willy Wonka and the jumpsuits they were wearing when then shrunk Mike Teavee.
I think his family already had much better seats than the Rowdies. It probably would have taken quite a bit of convincing to get them to move him. But I like the idea.
Well since i cant start a thread i figured id try to post this somewhere else. Me and a few guys are coming down from college station to attend the Spurs/Rockets game this friday and yes, we are spurs fans... someone got us 4 tickets and there in section 113 row 15... (Are these good seats) anyway, i was wondering if anyone could help us out since none of us know houston very well. Are there many places around the Toyota Center to go have some drinks/food before the game? After the game we are looking to go out and have a good time.. ive heard a little about midtown but not really sure where we should head to since we will obviously be taking a cab. any specific places? thanks to anyone willing to help out!
The B.U.S. is a good place to chill and drink before the game. It's across the street from the Arena garage. Midtown is pretty cool. It's about 5 minutes away from the Toyota Center. Try Pub Fiction on Smith st. There are more places walking distance from there. I like Woodrows too.
OH i know a GREAT place for you! You should head over to Montrose, there's a really great bar called Chances! Its a great place to go to after sporting events. the drinks arent too expensive and its really cool atmosphere. A local favorite!
The Rowdies most definitely have a role in TC. I think in an ideal atmosphere, you wouldn't need them, because the whole arena would be rockin' on their own. But let's face it, this is a fairweather city and almost the entire lower bowl is filled with suits, if it's filled at all. If the Rowdies can help, even a little bit, to energize the crowd and the team, then good for them. And maybe a reason only a 100 or so tryout is because it's a huge commitment to be a Red Rowdy. I'd love to get a free ticket to the game and scream my head off...but there's no way in hell I could make even half the games, let alone all. Plus, I was exhausted cheering with the Rowdies for one game...I'd get tired of doing it every one. But major props to those who can! And I know it's been said plenty of times already...and it's been done from the beginning...but considering the exposure it has gotten this past year and that its origins are clearly not Houston-based, maybe Who-Dat needs to go. I think I will forever be annoyed by that chant, even more so by the bandwagoners who use it. Why not come up something that incorporates "Clutch City" or "Believe It." I know Believe It is rather generic and not exclusive to Houston, but it makes more sense than Who Dat.
The Rowdies need to do this and get section 114,113 and so to do this... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9M30-KjoBS0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9M30-KjoBS0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
no lie we actually do this one! we call it the roller coaster. we usually do it every game at the start of the 4th quarter, but only within our rowdies section. That would be tight to get the sections next to us to do it, but idk if they would, most people in the toyota center dont even want to get out of their seats for even the final 2 minutes of a close game. the only thing that seems to get people out of their seats in the TC is a 1 in 4,000 chanced XL tshirt toss.
Sadly your right. I was at the Rockets vs Suns game in November and I sat in 113 right next to the rowdies but to the left and the only time people really do get up is for t-shirts. It's pretty pathetic, I'm sure anyone can go out and buy a $5 t-shirt but you spend 50 bucks on tickets and won't get up to support your team? Anyways maybe offering t-shirts in exchange for doing the roller coaster wouldn't be bad
haha. or less than $5. im a rockets apparel junkie/collector, so I hit up thrift stores all the time. I see giveaway tshirts, guys night out, and throw out XL rockets tshirts at every goodwill i go to for $1.99. small % chance a person will catch a tshirt, large % chance that tshirt will end up at a goodwill.
we do rollercoaster already. we do try really hard to hype up the crowd...but with the way things are going...that job is getting harder to do. i mean hell, after every game we lose there are 568974 hate threads made here at the GARM. the way you feel at home feels much worse in the arena. they jus need to bring back cook so y'alls anger can be diverted back to him instead of the rowdies. better yet, lets just blame ariza's injury
I remember posting in a thread about who the next GARM scapegoat would be. I thought for sure it would follow an Ariza, Yao, Adelman type of progression. Never in my wildest dreams did I think the wrath of these forums would turn on the Rowdies. Light your pitchforks people! It's time to burrrrrrrrn something!
