Again, a lot of smack from folks complaining about lame chants ...but not any suggestions.

    So
    Make a suggestion
    OR
    Tryout for the Rowdies.

There are probably a dozen Rowdies or more that are members of this BBS. Any suggestions can be IMMEDIATELY implemented at the next game.

    Put up or shut up.

I really can't stand the Red Rowdies. They make us look stupid. They are played out

how about "we're lame, we're tame, we oughta be ashamed!"

We were trying to come up with original chants ...not re-use chants that your family uses.

    I agree.
My suggestion is to lay off the chants during the game. They're lame and sometimes annoying. If you must have a chant, just have ONE good chant to do pre-game or after a victory.

Settle down everyone. The Rowdies serve their purpose. If you dont like them, then dont deal with them.

The Rowdies are great for the TC. I personally, do not know any of them, although I definitely can recognize the familiar faces. Instead of bashing them, we should applaud them for their commitment to the team. I dont want to hear that they get free tickets excuse. I pay for my season tickets and I have neither the desire nor the want, not to mention the energy to make every game. It is a long season and they deserve their credit.

I get asked every year by my rep if I want to move. I love being in the section with the Rowdies. I am lucky that I am in Row 28 and to the (my) left of them, but I certainly like having them there.

I think it is uncalled for to nit pick on their chants and call them names.

If by serving their purpose you mean to create a phony impression of the atmosphere at the Toyota Center when shown on TV, then yeah they do serve their purpose.

When you are at the game, unless you are sitting close to them, you hardly notice and or give a crap about them.

yeah free tickets but that doesn't mean we can just show up and do nothing while there. We have to be at every game, be energized and loud. I can understand some may be annoyed cause of all the noise..but a lot of people love that type of atmosphere.

LA fans are borrrrinnnngggg...how many times do y'all talk smack about them being so quiet and now you're praising them for not having a fan section? You already know LA and NYC get respect just because of their name. We're not them, thats why we have to hype things up.

Because of the Red rowdies, now you see other teams who have made their own "rowdy" section. Spurs, Mavs, Bucks and now the Jazz...which you all were dissing the other day because they were copying our name.

its ok though, not everyone will like the rowdies and thats fine. it is what it is.

We been getting beat so bad that I don't even hear "You got cheat, to beat, the Roooockets, You got cheat, to beat, the Roooockets" anymore.

    Hopefully that changes.

My long time dream was to become a Rowdy.

I'm just really shy but I think I'll try out next season.

you really should!! I didn't want to either because i thought "wow, I'm going to look like a fool shouting all the time and have paint on my face"

I wasn't wrong haha, I do look like a fool but at least I love what I do and i don't care who hates it...I have 49 others who are with me on this. Its not easy to cheer on a team we feel may not even make the playoffs but we do it not because of the free tickets, but because we love our team no matter what. Thats a true fan...to cheer even though they suck sometimes haha

The Spurs Baseline Bums have been around for awhile though. I remembering hearing them chant and thinking that was a cool idea. Year later, Red Rowdies were introduced. Other then that, your right.

On multiple occasions the Rowdies have started chants (usually just "Lets Go Rockets" cause that's about all that standard fans are capable of) that spread to the entire building. It's actually really cool to watch because it starts in Sec 114 and then you can visually see it spread to 115 and 113 because the bang sticks also go in unison. Then you keep seeing it move down both sides of the arena until finally the opposite side catches up. What's interesting is that the opposite side is about 1/2 second behind.

In reality, the Rowdies could do more but the PA announcer often kills anything we start. For example, the PA will hear us start a Lets Go Rockets and then decides to join in ...but it's off beat ...which kills the momentum the Rowdies had and then it just becomes a generic force fed deal instead of a more organic chant started from the crowd. I've brought that up to the Rockets before but they don't seem to be too concerned cause they continue to pipe in music just after the Rowdies get something going.

I have to say that I rather enjoy the Rowdies. We have company seats and I go to probably 10-15 home games a season.

Sure chants can get repetitive..but what isn't? Try and help them out with a new suggestion then.

Anyhow, I get a kick out of it when they storm around TC before the game with the drums.. I always make an effort to give them a high 5..b/c they're yelling, and losing their voices each game.

Even I don't try to scream too, too much every game because showing up at work sounding like you had a late night doesn't go over too well. Quit giving the rowdies a hard time!

p.s... The play-offs last year..both the Portland & LA series were absolutely nuts pre-game.. nothing like standing in the beer line with the anticipation of the game crawling up your neck and then seeing the drums, faces and outfits...
