True, but we don't know what exactly Rove told Fitzgerald, and what kind of deal was cut in order to get him to talk. Rove may have some type of immunity that would make it worthless for Fitzgerald to open this case back up.

Either way I would like to hear some comments on the subject from Fitzgerald.

    oh my...

Sen. Schumer (D-NY) catches Mr. Gonzales in one of several lies. Gonzales says Carol Lam was well aware of the DOJ's concerns about her immigration policy. Lam says that's false. Kyle Sampson says that's false. The documents say that's false.

    so true --

From the buzz I'm hearing toay, if Alberto Gonzales were a stock, we'd be at that point when those automatic trading halts kicked in because so many people are trying to sell. But let's not get distracted by Alberto Gonzales. He's just a cog. In almost every case, what we're talking about here is Gonzales's willingness to take orders from the White House -- most importantly from Karl Rove and President Bush -- on firing US Attorneys for corrupt purposes and using the Justice Department to suppress Democratic turnout in swing states. Mr. Gonzales is a secondary issue. The real players are in the White House.

Gonzales reviews are in: ‘Like clubbing a baby seal.’

    CNN’s Dana Bash:

Loyal Republican after loyal Republican in this hearing room, and more specifically, in private to CNN today have made it clear that they are frankly flabbergasted by how poorly they think the attorney general has done in this hearing. … During the lunch break, in private, several very loyal Republicans made it clear to CNN that they were really dripping with disappointment.

    CNN’s Suzanne Malveaux:

[White House officials] believe Gonzales is in trouble. … Two senior White House aides here describing the situation, Gonzales’ testimony, as “going down in flames.” That he was “not doing himself any favors.” One prominent Republican describing watching his testimony as “clubbing a baby seal.”

Wow, I'll have to watch some clips. I almost feel sorry for him, but at the end of the day its his choice.
I imagine we will see GW come out and say Alberts doing a heck of a job.

I heard some of the testimony on NPR and it wasn't pretty. Gonzales was caught in contradictions several times and it sounds like he was either very incompetent, very corrupt or both.

DNC sues Justice Department; RNC not ready to turn over e-mails to Congress

WASHINGTON — The Democratic National Committee sued the Justice Department on Thursday, demanding it turn over any e-mail traffic with the Republican Party on the U.S. attorneys controversy and criminal investigations.

I think I heard on the news that he later clarified his remarks to say that he didn't watch any of the testimony. :)
