Rockets porbably wouldn't have the same result by now. BD will blow by Alston and score 40 every game, and we all know JVG sucks on defending the outside shootings. Count on GS rain down 15 3s every game... On the other hand, Deron did a much better job and BD never got into the game. You may argue the edge of 111, but Yao is probably a non-exist if we were playing GS. So I would guess 1-3, and that should be us.
I'm torn on this one. Seeing Utah on the verge of the WCF(and with a legit shot at making the Finals, especially against Phoenix) makes me feel better about the Rockets' loss since it was clearly to a quality ballclub. At the same time, I'm even more pissed about the Game 7 loss since it could be the Rockets up 3-1 against Golden State right now. You just know we squandered a golden opportunity(no pun intended). We could've had home court in Round 2 and avoided the Mavs. Instead, next season Dallas will be back and really pissed off, San Antonio and Phoenix aren't going anywhere, Utah is back to being a dominant(and now very experienced and confident) force in the West, Denver will be better, the Clippers and Fakers could be better, Golden State will be better, the Hornets will be better if they remain healthy, hell even Memphis will improve a great deal. And here we are wondering who our coach will be, never mind how we can improve the roster.
Well this series is over. I can't help but think what might have been if the Warriors had somehow won Game 1 and/or Game 2. What has killed them is poor free throw shooting and lack of rebounding. Bill Simmons had a column about this (an actual serious one for him) in which he predicted that the small ball of Nelly was going to flame out. It just pisses me off to see 2 damn boring and physical teams like the Jazz and Spurs play each other in the WC Finals. Well, one thing that is positive for me - my wife will be happy that I am not going to bed so late.
I really think the Rockets will have a hard time against Warriors. Could the Rockets score enough to win games vs GS? GS's quickness, penetrations, perimeter shootings all spell doom to the Rockets. BD, JRich, Monta Ellis will have a field day against the Rockets' backcourt.
it was home court until game 5....it then became dallas hca. history books will show dallas having hca and that is my point...history and stats show nothing in the playoffs...we have seen way too many blown 2-0 & 3-1 leads in the playoffs recently compared to a decade plus ago
considering the bracket we were in...once dallas got eliminated..one of the 3 teams (gs, utah, hou) had to make the wcf...each team had no experience whatsoever. i am sorry but i can't give utah too much credit. If they went through the spurs and the suns then maybe i could give them a lot of credit.
True, he is a good player, but don't you think he's benefitted A LOT from mistmatches, like being Yao being too slow, GS too small?
Yeh, but a "superstar"? I don't know about that, when they didnt have a point guard (deron foul trouble, AK running the show) Boozer was ineffective.
But isn't this evidence of his versatility? Boozer is fast and strong, and he'll create a mismatch and dominate if his opponent is just one but not the other... Who knows how he'd do in the play offs against guys like Duncan or Amare, but you're probably a superstar if the only people that have a chance to equal your production are other superstars.
I don't think he draws double or triple teams enough to be in the same tier as a superstar level player. That said the Jazz are so balanced any team would be hardpressed to consider double teaming him anyways. I think he's a dominant scorer, but he's not exactly known for his defense nor his playmaking ability the way you would perceive a superstar level player to be. For example I think if you give Duncan and Boozer single coverage they both have the potential to drop 40+ on you and nab 15+ boards. However if you focus your entire defense to stop Duncan and Boozer, Duncan will probably still have around 28 points, 12 boards, a couple of blocks and dish 4 or 5 dimes as well. Boozer will probably get you 28 and 12 but maybe only 1 assist if that and more than likely no blocks. So is he a superstar? I think he's a tier below in the company of big men with someone like Yao. To be honest I think Brand is a more complete player than Boozer since his defense is much better but Boozer is definitely the more complete scorer.
i talked about this the other day, i guess it all depends what a person considers a superstar. i think boozer is just as good as other players considered superstars
In these playoffs, if you don't consider him a superstar then nobody is. He's done exactly what you expect a superstar to do after his flop in game 1 against us. All post players (great ones included) depend on their teammates to get them the ball. After destroying Yao, Boozer is starting to dominate Golden State, who has no player that can guard him. Assuming they close the Warriors out, I look forward to seeing how Boozer would do against Duncan and the suffocating defense of the Spurs. Watching Williams and Boozer "grow up" in these playoffs is something we may remember for a long time.
Updated: May 15, 2007, 2:10 PM ET No suspension, but Davis' foul on Fisher upgradedBy Chris Sheridan ESPN.com Baron Davis will be allowed to play in Game 5 of the Golden State-Utah series Tuesday night after the NBA league office decided not to suspend him for his hard hit on Derek Fisher of the Jazz in Game 4. Davis NBA disciplinarian Stu Jackson upgraded the penalty against Davis to a flagrant foul, category 2, but elected not to suspend him. The Warriors were trailing 102-93 with 97 seconds left Sunday night when Davis missed a 3-pointer and Deron Williams grabbed the rebound. As Derek Fisher turned to go up court, he banged into Davis and went down in a heap, forcing the Jazz to call a 20-second timeout. Replays showed Davis stopping and throwing an elbow, although Fisher said he thought it was Davis' shoulder that caught him in the right ear. "Boom is tough and hard-nosed, but he wasn't out there trying to hurt anyone, especially me," Fisher said after the game, referring to one of Baron's nicknames, "Boom Dizzle." Davis, a former teammate of Fisher's, said it was unintentional and apologized to Fisher, who was well enough to finish the game. "I told him to stop flopping, and he laughed. He said he knows I didn't do it on purpose," Davis said, according to The Associated Press, before the Warriors flew to Utah on Monday. "Me and Derek Fisher, we're great friends. He's a great mentor to me, and in the moment of the game, the heat of the game, there's going to be some contact, some unnecessary contact." http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2007/news/story?id=2871206 Not that it really is going to matter but it isn't over until the fat lady sings. Too bad that she is about ready to walk on the stage.
I'm watching, I've watched all the GS games so far. They are the most entertaining things in the playoffs, I hope they pull this out. I hope the bulls pull it out too. Just checking in during halftime. Worst case scenario: Spurs win, Pistons win, Jazz win. then its up to LeBron for the spice, and then I will shoot myself if I see a pistons/spurs finals.
