I am so insanely irritated. Not because I won't have the messenger. Just because of the principles at stake. Imagine the patriot act, times 10, and now plus 2. The telecoms laws are the same everywhere and RIM recently caved on a similar demand from India I believe... but data protection, confidentiality and privacy laws are radically different, which is one of the reasons why (I assume) RIM didn't cave on this one. There's the additional burden of RIM being a commercial entity, hence caving to India's 1 billion population but not to the UAE's 5 million. Rep points to the first person who spells out the politics behind all this.
