This makes me totally not feel as bad about being behind by 9 yesturday to the Jazz. Its just first game jitters.
Exactly. If it wasn't for the defense of the Lakers, their rebounding, and Odom's low post presence Kobe's effort would be worthless. That is a team effort out there. The Lakers are looking damn good.
Kobe is a SICK basketball player. The Suns need to take him out of the Lakers offense early in the 2nd half. We'll see just how poised the Lakers are when that happens. The other players aren't holding up their end of the bargain on offense. They also need to keep rebounding well and getting back on the break. Plus, the Lakers better stop giving up so many wide open looks. Otherwise, the Suns will get on a roll and pile drive them. I still think the Suns will do the Lakers like we did the Jazz yesterday.
The difference is we didn't disrespect our opponent (Jazz) and make proclamations that we're going to run them over, all the while calling them out for being trash or useless defenders and saying we're going to need the rest for the second round. The Suns did, and they're not playing up to par to back it up with actions. It's the first game though, so that much is true...
He makes that shot constantly. Remember only a few weeks ago, he put the Fakers into OT against us with an almost identical shot? The guy's been making that shot all his career.
That was so stupid of the Suns. Boy, you talk about ego problems. For a team that's never won a conference championship let alone an NBA championship they act like they're god's gift. And then they tick the Lakers off. The same Lakers that was 3-1 on them last year and could eliminated them, and a Lakers team that came close to beating them 2 or 3 times this year. Anything can happen but the Suns are on a serious ego trip.
People talk about Robert Horry being "Big Shot Bob" and Mario Elie hitting big shots but none of them can tough Kobe Bryant. He is INSANE. Reggie Miller and Michael Jordan are probably the only players that can touch him. Unbelievable.
i liked odom's game also and also marion and barbosa's game today. Everyoen else was okay for a playoff team.
i didn't really explain it well. while he hits shots like that all the time, i meant the particular situation of a heat check 3 with 2 guys draped all over him. when he gets on fire, he always seems to take one crazy 3 at the end of the streak where he forces it up no matter how many people are around and it always misses. that's why i was so surprised b/c that's what that shot was and it almost always misses. as for giving credit to the rest of the lakers. i was just pointing out that they are sucking on offense, specifically finishing easy layups. yes, their weird voodoo hex on the suns offense continues (now watch the suns finish with 115 points) and they are playing good defense and rebounding against the only team they ever play defense and rebound well against, so that's good. although it still helps that the suns are just missing a lot of easy shots right now. moral of the story, good D, bad O.
I just started watching at the half. There is no excuse for any two NBA Playoff teams for being this awful at paint defense. Absolutely atrocious.
the lakers D has gone away suddenly. suns have scored on i think every possession so far. and i can sense a raja flop on a slight kobe push off coming up. stop ****ing giving it to kwame. how hard is that to figure out? it was cool last year when he was posting up 6'6 people, but not on freakin' amare.
The Suns are making ZERO effort on defense...the Lakers are scoring on every single possession now. Not to mention that they're not making their outside shots, which is abnormal to say the least. They just didn't bring the necessary level of intensity coming into this game, thinking it was a walk in the park. Hopefully the Lakers win this game...
Actually, in terms of making 'clutch' shots, he isn't even the best in the league today. He's definitely one of the best ever though, even if the numbers don't necessarily reflect it.
that ref made that offensive foul call before farmar ever even got to nash. and nash was not set or directly in his path.
the refs are starting to make phantom calls in favor of phoenix. that charge, then a blocking foul on farmar too.
i don't know where kobe is on the all-time clutch shot list b/c he's not as perfect as people think, but he might be #1 on the all-time "tough shot" list. there has never been anyone who could make as many shots with as high a degree of difficulty as he does, like that shot to end the half. sometimes he gets in those situations by forcing a shot he shouldn't, but no one gets themselves out of those situations better.
are you talking about that 82games.com last 24 seconds to win or tie stat where he's terrible and melo is amazing? b/c i was looking at that the other day and not only was it hard to believe kobe was 7-32, but mr. big shot, billups was even worse at 5-19, and then i saw the stat that made me completely question the whole thing - steve nash was the worst of all at 1-15. it seems impossible those 3 are really that bad in those situations when they seem so good.
